PREFACE

It is a pleasure to welcome all of you to the 2016 5th International Conference on Transportation and Traffic Engineering (ICTTE 2016). ICTTE was founded in 2012, and has been successfully held in Hong Kong, Maldives, Portugal, and Spain during the past four years. This year, ICTTE 2016 will be held in University of Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland. It is a conference dedicated to issues related to transportation planning and system optimization, transportation security, transportation planning, controlling methods for supply chains, quantitative and qualitative performance measures, Managing logistics service quality, etc.

The major goal and feature of the conference is to bring academic scientists, engineers, industry researchers together to exchange and share their experiences and research findings and results, and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted. We hope you will have a delightful and rewarding experience, and use this occasion to meet old friends and make many new ones in related research fields.

The proceedings of ICTTE 2016 contain 71 papers selected from the conference which are presented orally at the conference or via poster sessions, and provide up-to-date, comprehensive and worldwide state-of-the art knowledge in this field. Each contributed paper was rigorously peer-reviewed by international reviewers who were drawn from the organizing and advisory committee members as well as other external reviewers invited from all over the world. The proceedings are divided into 8 chapters based on the different topics of the papers, which include: transportation planning and system optimization, transportation security, traffic control, transportation system modeling and forecasting, transport infrastructure, supply chains, construction project modeling and prediction, analysis and improvement of vehicle

We would like to thank all the organization staff, the members of the program committees and reviewers. They have worked very hard in reviewing papers and making valuable suggestions for the authors to improve their work. We also would like to express our gratitude to the external reviewers, for providing extra help in the review process, and the authors for contributing their research results to the conference.

Hopefully, we’ll be seeing all of you again in ICTTE next year.
