(1)az io n. Dear reader,. al i. The past and future of Functional Neurology. Editorial. Functional Neurology has, for many years, been the leading Italian journal in the competitive field of neuroscience. About four years ago, we embarked on a profound renovation of the journal, introducing a multidisciplinary approach to neuroscience combined with a solid peer review system and a new computer platform for the submission and management of papers. As a result, an increasing number of papers from the fields of neuroimaging, neurophysiology, clinical neurology and neurorehabilitation were submitted to us.. rn. Now, several years on, Functional Neurology is facing a new challenge. The IRCCS Casimiro Mondino Foundation, after many years, will no longer be the sponsoring institution. From now on, scientific and financial support for the journal will be provided by the Italian Society of Neurorehabilitation, with the endorsement of the European Federation of Neurorehabilitation.. In te. Immediately after the publication of this issue (number 2, 2017), the Editorial Board, currently represented by Professors Egidio D’Angelo, Editor-in-Chief, François Boller, Claudia Gandini Wheeler-Kingshott and Nicola Vanacore, Co-editors, will change. Prof. Giorgio Sandrini, a member of the previous Editorial Board, will become Editor-in-Chief, a role he will share with Prof. Carlo Cisari, President of the Italian Society of Neurorehabilitation. Prof. Stefano Tamburin and Dr Alessio Baricich will take over as Deputy Editors, supported in their activity by a new Editorial Office.. Even though the new Board intends to promote, in particular, research in the field of neurorehabilitation, from basic mechanisms to clinical studies, Functional Neurology nevertheless wishes to maintain its image as a journal open to multidisciplinary contributions, from all the neuroscience disciplines.. io. ni. This handover marks the latest chapter in the story of this journal that, from its foundation to now, has always been inspired by its founder, Prof. Giuseppe Nappi, former Scientific Director of the Mondino Institute. We thank Prof. Nappi, all the members of the Editorial Board, the personnel of the Editorial Office and the reviewers for their enthusiastic and expert support over recent years. Egidio D’Angelo François Boller Claudia Gandini Wheeler-Kingshott Nicola Vanacore Giorgio Sandrini Carlo Cisari Stefano Tamburin Alessio Baricich. @. C IC. Ed. iz. We wish the new Editorial Board and the new Functional Neurology a fruitful and successful future.. Functional Neurology 2017; 32(2): 61. 61.
