(1)zi on al i. From the Editor-in-Chief am honored and delighted to announce that Clinical Cases in Mineral and Bone Metabolism (CCMBM) became the official Journal of the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Medicine (OrtoMed). What is extraordinary is that such a young Society can enjoy the privilege of having an Official Journal which is cited in PubMed! The editorial board has been largely renovated. The Journal will also enlarge its audience with an extension of our mailing to orthopaedic specialists within and outside the OrtoMed Society. CCMBM will be a unique forum in which experienced orthopaedic surgeons will confront with specialists in the field of metabolic bone disorders. The focus should be an outcome of practical value, with emphasis on scientific advances that enhance our understanding of bone disorders in way that affects patient care. The audience should include students, trainees and practitiones, both national and international. The best method of learning is to apply new knowledge when it is presented in the form of an experience likely to be encountered in practice. In this issue of CCMBM we have brought together a miscellaneous collection of reports from orthopaedic surgeons and metabolic bone specialists. Fracture healing, mechanisms of action of antifracture agents, surgical prosthetic treatment, kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, rehabilitation, and pharmacoeconomic issues are presented by authorities in the respective field. A new section on Bone Disorders in Art has been included, featuring “Osteoporosis in Masterpieces”. We hope this comprehensive and lively package will give you food for thought, and help you make up your own opinion on the important presented issues. As always, CCMBM takes responsibility for all editorial content and peer-review. I hope that our old readers of CCMBM and the new ones will particularly enjoy the contributions of this issue, all of which focus an important and scientifically exciting areas of cutting-edge orthopaedic and bone metabolism research..
