TX Logistik responsible for new connection from Trieste to
Gothenburg
Troisdorf, 26 January 2017 – TX Logistik AG (TXL) is extending its European intermodal network. The railway logistics company is responsible for and manages the entire transport chain of the connection starting
yersterday from Trieste to Gothenburg for the Turkish logistics provider Ekol. Containers and semi-trailers will be transported on behalf of the new customer.
The company train is on track to transport cargo from Turkey and Greece in the direction of northern Europe. TX Logistik is responsible for the entire transport chain from Trieste,
including ferry bookings. In Kiel, the freight will be handed over to the Stena Line shipping company. It then travels on to Gothenburg across the Baltic Sea by ship. "The solution we have developed is tailored exactly to the entire supply chain of Ekol", emphasises Jörg Nowaczyk, Intermodal division
manager at TX Logistik. This means that TXL operates not only as an integrator but also effects a large proportion of the traction under their own direction.
The new intermodal connection launches with one round trip per week. The 552 m-long train has 16 double-pocket cars and can take up to 32 unit loads in total. TX Logistik/Stena Line requires approx. 48 hours for the Trieste-Kiel-Gothenburg route.
"The collaboration with all participating partners and the coordinated schedule ensure short waiting times in the ports and reduce transit times between Turkey and Scandinavia considerably", says Jörg Nowaczyk, highlighting the advantages. "This also makes the intermodal connection interesting for freight destined for northern Germany and southern Denmark." The goal is to increase the number of return journeys to two by the end of this year, provided that demand increases. Destinations in Lithuania and Norway are also easy to reach via Kiel.
2 TXL has seen consistently high demand for many years on the north-south route in particular. Jörg Nowaczyk therefore sees potential not only in the collaboration with Ekol:
"Alongside Trieste, the ports of Koper and Fusina offer ideal conditions for us to extend our European network even further."
