A few info for foreign non EU-students

In order to complete the application procedure you need to:

1) Fill in the pre-enrolment application form (A form) The form is available here:

http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/moduli/2018/FORM_A.pdf

please consider that:

- you are applying for the academic year 2020/21

- the official name of our University is: University of L’Aquila

- The program is an ordinary 2

nd

cycle degree course, named: PHYSICS

2) Prepare all documents required by the Italian consulate, namely:

- two copies of your pre-enrolment form

- 2 passport-sized photo, one of which signed by you

- the University degree certificate which allows you to access the 2

nd

cycle degree programs.

This must have already been legalized by the competent Authority of the country which issued it, with Apositille stamp, and officially translated in Italian

- the official certificate issued by the foreign academic Institution with the complete list of all the exams you passed and the corresponding grades, credits (or weekly/yearly hours) for all teaching-learning activities (theory and practice), syllabi of the individual subject courses. This official certificate may be provided in English, French, Spanish or Italian. If not, it must be officially translated. Alternatively, if available, a ‘diploma supplement’ may be provided.

Since the Master program at the University of L’Aquila is delivered in English, you do not need to provide any certificate proving your proficiency in Italian, nor to pass the Italian language exam once in Italy. However, you must provide a certificate proving your English proficiency (unless your degree courses were delivered in English). Sometimes IELTS or other equivalent English certification is required by the Italian authority.

3) Deliver personally your application form and the required documents to the competent diplomatic authority:

The competent diplomatic authority is generally the Italian Embassy/Consulate closest to the place where the awarding institution is located. Deadline of this step is usually at the end of July 2019 (however, please double check with the local Italian authority).

The Italian diplomatic authority will:

a) legalize the Italian translation of the University degree and make it official

b) provide the DECLARATION of VALUE of the University degree required to complete the enrolment procedure

c) authenticate one of the two photographs.

Please, make sure that the Embassy/Consulate notifies your pre-enrolment application to:

International office Università degli studi dell’Aquila uri@strutture.univaq.it and to Prof. Vincenzo Rizi, Program coordinator - Master of Science in Physics

vincenzo.rizi@univaq.it

4) Once the pre-enrolment application step at the Embassy/Consulate has been completed, please send an e-mail to the program coordinator stating:

a) your name and surname

(2)

b) your birth date and place c) your citizenship

d) the Embassy/Consulate to which the application has been presented e) the day you presented the application

Then, once the Italian Embassy/Consulate notifies the International Relations Office of the University of L’Aquila your pre-enrolment application, we will

i) confirm to the Italian Embassy/Consulate your admission to the program

ii) send you a letter of acceptance that can be presented to the Italian Embassy/Consulate for the VISA application (info at:

http://vistoperitalia.esteri.it/home/en )

iii) Apply for the VISA at the Italian embassy/consulate: you should obtain the VISA within the end of August 2020 (please check with the local Italian authority).

5) On your arrival in Italy, obtain formal admission to the program upon presentation of the original required documents (including Declaration of Value) Important remarks:

- It seems a long process, but it is not hard to pass through it

- Do not come to Italy without the complete paper work obtained by the Consulate/Embassy: we will be forced by law to reject your admission request, and you will be forced to go back to your country to complete the procedure

- Be careful: you can not enrol if you do not have 12 years of undergraduate school Additional info:
