FOUNDATIONS OF ANALYSIS
The course “Foundations of Analysis”, Laurea Magistrale in Mathematics, which will be held in the first semester of the academic year 2013/2014, is inserted in the “Percorso: Teaching and Scientific Communications” and its primary goal is the deep study of the field of real numbers with notions to the historical path leading to the modern axiomatization. During the course, all important notions and structures of mathematical analysis, such as: supremum of a set, monotonicity, continuity, differentiation, convergence, ordered fields, archimedean fields, complete fields, metric spaces, topological spaces, completeness, compactness, metrizability, cardinality, will be treated (re-treated) from a foundational and analytical point of view. Several historical remarks will be also given.
By the way, despite to its name and subject, it is not a course for beginners.
I believe that the course may be interesting for and fruitfully followed by students of the “Percorso: Mathematical Sciences“ too. Even if they, when clicking on their percorso in Esse3, do not see it.
