Because of the concern that high-touch items and
surfaces can act as COVID-19 spreading vehicles, returned books sit in a dedicated space
for 72 hours before they are handled by employees or are
returned to shelves for the
public to access .
Borrowing books
First of all:
• Search for the book you need using the Library Online Catalogue:
https://opac.uniroma4.it/.
If the book is available, you will read:
"Documento disponibile" means the book is not on loan to another patron, therefore you can borrow it.
"Documento ammesso al prestito" means the book is available for loan
(serials, encyclopaedias, dictionaries and reference works are not available for loan)
Register
• The first time you borrow a book, you need to register to the library services. You must do it from home, in order to save your time when you come to the library.
• To register go to the button Accedi in the upper right of the catalogue and then Non sei ancora registrato? [Not registered yet?]

Registration form
• Fill in the registration form with your details: name and surname,
date of birth, Italian fiscal code, address in Italy, Italian mobile phone number, Uniroma4 email address, and document details.
• You are also asked to upload a copy of your ID or passport.
Arrange an appointment
• Write to biblioteca@uniroma4.it from your
institutional email to arrange an appointment.
• Specify all bibliographic details of the books you want to borrow (title, author, call number and inventory number)
• The Library staff will get in touch with you to arrange date and time of the appointment.

Late return of material
• Please note that no fines will be charged for the late return of material but, in case of significant delay,
a report will be sent to the Student Office.
• You will not be able to ask for any certificate or
book any exam until you return all items.
Renewals…
You can also renew books, once only, if they are not overdue and if they have not been reserved by another user.

Photocopying
There is no photocopying facilities in the library or the University premises.
You need to borrow books and have photocopies done outside.
Serials issues can be borrowed just for the day.
According to the Copyright Lawin Italy
(Legge sul Diritto d'autore – L. 22 aprile 1941 n. 633) Max 15 %
of each book or serial issue is allowed photocopying.
Reference works and rare or damaged books cannot be photocopied.
