INVITATION TO THE PRESS
Dobrindt to receive G7 transport ministers at IAA and present
"National Strategy on Automated and Connected Driving"
Dear colleagues,
On 16 and 17 September 2015, a meeting of the G7 transport ministers will be held at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt am Main. The Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Alexander Dobrindt, will receive his counter- parts from Japan, the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy and France. The meeting of the G7 transport ministers will also be attended by European Commis- sioners Violeta Bulc and Günther Oettinger.
130 years after the invention of the car, the world is on the threshold of the next great mobility revolution – we are about to take the leap towards automated and connected driving. The car will turn into the "third place", i.e. into another important place in people's lives alongside their homes and offices. Real-time car-to-
infrastructure data communication will combat congestion and reduce the number of accidents. At the IAA, the G7 transport ministers will come together with leading industry representatives to discuss what this development will mean for the public and private sectors.
