PRESS INVITATION

UITP INTERNATIONAL RAIL CONFERENCE - ‘GO SMART – GO RAIL’

DATE: 28-30 OCTOBER 2015 PLACE: MUNICH, GERMANY

UITP warmly invites you to its International Rail Conference that will take place in Munich from 28-30 October.

For many cities, rail transport retains an image of modernity, efficiency and desirability. New lines are opening every month in our increasingly urban world:

nearly 450km in 2014 alone.

Rail transport has a key role to play in the transformational efforts to move millions of people more efficiently. Each day 360 million people worldwide travel by metro and tram. This represents 30% of public transport usage. The 2015 UITP Rail Conference will highlight the benefits of each local rail mode and their specific challenges, as well as intermodal synergies.

Keynote speaker Dr Manfred RUDHART, CEO of DB-Regio AG, will share his vision of railways in times of change with a focus on competition, funding scarcity and digitalisation. As well as thematic sessions on topics such as regional and suburban railways, metro, light rail, energy, maintenance and safety another major highlight will be the CEO discussion. In the context of growing demand and increasing customer quality expectations, well-known CEOs from across the rail industry (from private groups to publicly-owned operators) will debate funding, new business models and how to integrate public transport with other urban policies.

Join us in Munich to hear from the sector’s leading lights about the challenges facing the rail industry and the potential solutions in store.

Speakers include:

Left to right: Manfred Rudhart (CEO, DB-Regio AG); Nozumu Ashida (Deputy Director, East Japan Railway Company); Crystal Langlois (Urban mobility & rail projects analyst, RATP);

Johannes Emmelheinz (CEO, Siemens Mobility Services); Tobias Heinemann (Member of the Board & CCO, Transdev)
