Starting from theoretical data, geometrical, aerodynamic and mechanical, the validation process took place to analyse the Trim conditions. After the evaluation of flight test data in different trims, the model was temporary validated showing good performance after a lot of work on parameter optimisation.

The subsequent phase developed the model, analysing dynamic manoeuvre and the engine response. Different flights were checked while still optimising the model until a final validation was reached. A good simulation was achieved even in this phase allowing progress to the next step.

The final task was the development of the back-up manoeuvre and the subsequent optimisation. Even without flight data supporting the results, high confidence in the output was reached permitting the generalized curve to be drawn for the optimised back-up manoeuvre.

Comparing the results with a generalized curve owned by the company, good matching was evident. The simulated manoeuvre was pushed to the limit resulting in a right shift of the simulated generalized curve with respect to the previous Agusta curve.

The results obtained, were in fact presented in the previous chapter and show sound proof of the quality of the work. The model simulates the reality very well allowing the use of the EUROPA code back-up manoeuvre design as a prediction model. This will allow the Agusta company to reduce costings in a series of flight tests, by directly evaluating in advance, using the EUROPA model, the behaviour of the helicopter. By starting from a known point in the early stages of the design, this will also speed up the entire evaluation process.

Thanks to the quality of the simulation it is also possible to think about the development of

new manoeuvre files. This is achieved by using the same validated helicopter model to

cover the entire range of Category A manoeuvres.
