Riassunto analitico
Nella presente tesi viene descritto il progetto dell’ illuminatore di un sistema “dual
reflector” per compact range operante in polarizzazione circolare in banda Ka
(31-35 GHz).
I componenti della struttura, OMT, Polarizzatore, Horn, sono stati progettati con diversi strumenti di calcolo a seconda delle caratteristiche dei singoli componenti. L’ OMT (trasduttore ortomodo) che presenta una struttura geometricamente complessa è stato progettato mediante un software basato su un metodo di tipo FIT+PBA nel dominio del tempo.
Il polarizzatore e l’horn, al contrario,si prestano ad un metodo di soluzione di tipo
Mode Matching semplificato con tempi di calcolo contenuti e quindi adatto
all’impiego di algoritmi genetici di ottimizzazione che sono stati sviluppati nel corso della tesi.
Vengono riportati i risultati derivanti dai progetti preliminari delle possibili soluzioni prese in considerazione, e il confronto con risultati del progetto finale ottimizzato.
Tali risultati confermano la validità dei metodi di progetto e di ottimizzazione utilizzati sia in termini di tempi di calcolo che in termini di risultati.
Abstract
In this thesis the design of a dual reflector system source of a compact range for testing circularly polarized antenna at Ka band (31-35 GHz) is described.
The components of the source, OMT (OrthoMode Transducer), polarizer and horn have been designed by means of different numerical techniques according to the characteristics of the single components.
Due to its complex geometrical structure, the OMT has been designed by means of the FIT/PBA method applied in time domain.
Conversely, the polarizer and the horn have been analyzed by means of the Mode Matching method and GAM (General Admittance Matrix) which is a reliable and fast numerical technique well suited to these symmetrical/periodic structures. The computation time plays an important role in applying efficiently the GA (Genetic Algorithm) which has been used in the present thesis to optimize the performances of both the polarizer and the horn.
The results of the projects before and after the GA optimization process have been discussed and compared to show the validity of these specificatly derived algorithms to achieve the tight specification of the source components.
