(4) 15, 2022 another.”(Jn. 13:35) . When we examine our consciences, often we might use the Ten Commandments as a starting point. These Commandments can be broken down into two categories: Love God and Love our Neighbor. Jesus stresses the love of God and love of neighbor several times throughout the Gospels. It is in this that life finds its greatest form of meaning. We see the culmination of Jesus fulfilling this in the ultimate act of love: dying on the cross for us. . I’d like to personally thank Lynn Sapanaro for her wonderful work in beautifying our Church with flowers and decorations. She worked very hard to make sure that the Church was beautiful for our recentl celebrations of Easter, Confirmation, and First Communion. I think we can all appreciate the springtime beautification of our Church. . This past week we received news from the Vatican that Pope Francis has appointed a new Auxiliary Bishop for the Diocese of Cleveland. This is exciting news! On August 4th, BishopElect Michael Woost will be ordained a Bishop at St. John Cathedral in Cleveland. If you have been a member of St. Anselm for a number of years, you may remember Fr. Mike Woost celebrating weekend Masses here at the parish. We’re very grateful to the Holy Father for choosing Bishop Elect Woost to serve the Church of Cleveland in this capacity. He'll assist Bishop Edward Malesic in serving the entire Diocese.. . . R 3C 701 2D E ! 07 M 15, 2022. (6) . “Faith Seeks Understanding” Book Discussion Group Beginning in midJune on Thursdays mornings . Everyone enjoys opening the mailbox to something other than bills and junk. So, you are already in luck! Father Chris is sending you an enthusiastic, personal letter about the parish BBQ picnic. Raffle tickets will be included. ANYONE who participates in the drawings CAN win. Not feeling lucky enough? Just think of the 80to1 longshot, underdog (underhorse?) recent Kentucky Derby winner “Rich Strike”. And you have considerably more than one chance to win. You don't have to be at the event to win, but when you see the superfun schedule of activities, you will certainly want to be there. . At the request of the participants in Lent’s discussion of St. Anselm’s little book, The Proslogion, a continuation of the format of a ‘discussion seminar’ on a classic Christian writer will be offered three times a year at St. Anselm’s. Participants can read a “short” book by a recognized and respected writer in the Christian Church’s past, and then meet over a continental breakfast to delve into the meanings of one of the writer’s works. The authors selected with members’ input for the 2022 23 year will be Karol Wojtyla (later John Paul II), Etienne Gilson (a twentieth century expert on St. Anselm’s thought), and C.S. Lewis, a 20th century writer well known for his popular Chronicles of Narnia. Discussion leader will be Dr. Macon Boczek; further details will follow in next week’s Sunday bulletin. . Rocky Railway Vacation Bible School . . Food Pantry. For the month of March, the Collinwood food pantry served 253 individuals. For the month of April, the pantry served 278 individuals. In addition to their regular client base, the Collinwood pantry continues to serve a number of homeless individuals for whom we are providing essential items such as soap, shaving cream, toothpaste and canned food items with easy open lids (no can opener needed). Thank you for your ongoing donations so that we may continue to support and provide needed items to this pantry as well as to the Geauga Food Pantry.. This year’s theme is “Trust Jesus”! Your child will explore His power and understand how we can trust Jesus to pull us through when life feels like a valley or mountaintop! Each day your child will learn about Jesus’ power through bible studies, music, art, science and games. . Day 1: Day 2: Day 3: Day 4: Day 5: . Jesus’ power helps us do hard things! Jesus’ power gives us hope! Jesus’ power helps us be bold! Jesus’ power lets us live forever! Jesus’ power helps us be good friends! Jesus’ Power Pulls Us Through! . Registration ends May 22 and is open for children ages 4 through finishing 5th grade. To register, please take a form located in the back of the church or go online to https://churchofstanselm.weshareonline.org.
