Prof. Annamaria Volpi Ghirardini Curriculum vitae

Born in Gorizia, Italy (1960). Graduated in Biol. Sciences cum laude (1985, University of Modena). Grant holder (1987-1990) and Contract Researcher (1991-1992) at Cà Foscari University of Venice. Research scientist in Ecology (BIO/07) and Prof. of Applied Ecology at UniVe (1993-2003). Associate Professor in Ecology (BIO/07) from 2003 and Head of the Research Laboratory of Ecotoxicology of DAIS (Cà Foscari University) with a part-time position from 2010- 2012. Associated with CNR-ISMAR (2014-2015). Abilitation to full professor, competitive sector 05/C1–Ecology (Bando 2012, DD n. 222/2012; Bando 2016, D.D. 1532/2016). Holder of following courses at Bachelor's/Master's Degrees in Environ. Sciences at UniVe: Applied Ecology, Biomonitoring and Bioindicators, Ecology II and laboratory, Ecotoxicology, Marine Ecotoxicology, Biomonitoring and Environmental Biotecnologies. Her scientific activity is focused on Marine/Estuarine Ecotoxicology and Bioindication with extensive experience in the development and standardization of ecotoxicological methods using embryo-larval stages of marine organisms (sea urchin and bivalves) and integrated tools (toxicity scales, multimetric indices) employed in the study of the ecotoxicity of pollutants, sediment quality assessment, wastewater treatment plants control, impact of materials used in maritime works and nanomaterials. She has also research experience in benthic indicators/indices, population dynamics of protozoan and benthic macroinvertebrates, biotechnologies for pollutant’s control. She is now working on emerging micropollutants’

ecotoxicity/bioaccumulation in the Venice Lagoon. In collaboration with CNR-ISMAR she has also provided scientific contributions to typological classification of lagoons. Coordinator of bio-ecological macroarea for the degree course in Env. Science (UniVe, 2004-2007). Coordinator for Ca’ Foscari of the Internat. Master Ecogovernance (EU, 2008-2009) and member of the steering committee of UniVe Masters in REACH (EC1907/2006) (2010-2012) and “Contaminated land assessment and remediation” (2010-2011). Member of the Research Steering Committee of DAIS (2016-today, Coordinator for Bio-Ecological Macroarea) and Member of PhD Council in Environmental Science (2014-today). Mentor and lecturer in Masters/Summer Schools at international level. Member from 1998 of the steering committee of the WG "Acque salate/salmastre e sedimenti" of UNICHIM and National Coordinator of the ad hoc group "Sampling, matrices and environments" (2006-2013). Coordinator/Participant in more than 35 research programs financed by EU, Italian Ministry, public and private Institutions, private companies. Participant to COST ACTION ES1403 (NEREUS) (2014-2018) and COST Action 1205 (ENTER) (2013-2017).Supervisor of 1 RTD_A (SSD BIO/07), 6 research grant holders, 11 PhD Thesis, 4 Master students and Scholarships; Tutor/cotutor of 65 master and bachelor degree thesis in Env.Sciences (University Cà Foscari). She was also mentor of PhD students at the international level (Aveiro Univ., Portugal; Buchurest Univ., Romania) and in USA-Italy bilateral activities in the REU Project (National Science Foundation). Author/coauthor of 138 scientific publications, 68 of them in peer-review international journals and more than 140 platform commun/posters at congresses. Scientific production at international level is distributed in 24 ISI journals. H-index: 25 according to SCOPUS; 29 according to Google Scholar. Citations: 1509 according to SCOPUS;

2024 according to Google Scholar.
