Press Release

INDRA DEPLOYS THE "NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW" FOR SHIPPING REPORTING AT SPANISH PORTS,

FOR €1.4 MILLION

The EU requires that all member states introduce systems that support electronic completion, submission, sharing and receipt of information on ships arriving at/departing from ports since June 1st

The DUEPort platform now allows the 28 Spanish port authorities and regional port operators to electronically share information with the State Port Authority, and via this with all other relevant bodies

The contract sees Indra strengthen its position in port systems, having deployed systems in countries including Brazil, Chile, Morocco, Portugal, Poland and Angola

Madrid, June 8, 2015.- Indra has designed and deployed the so-called national single window for Spain's State Port Authority (OPPE). The platform supports electronic interaction between port operators and authorities, supporting one-time transmission for all reporting formalities required when ships dock at Spanish ports. The €1.4 million contract includes full support services for operating the platform during an initial 15-month period.

The DUEPort solution ensures faster stopovers, prepares each port for goods transport and passenger transit, drives the competitiveness of Spanish port logistics and complies with EU legislation demanding that member states be equipped with electronic information systems since June 1st.

The platform became operational in May and now supports electronic information transfer between the OPPE, Spain's 46 state ports and regionally owned ports, as well as the more than one thousand agents involved in operations, ranging from the current 28 different port authorities to harbor masters, shipping consignees, customs officials, health authorities, border control, etc. On average the system handles 400 stopovers every day.

The “single window" allows the entire port community to electronically complete and submit to the relevant authorities full mandatory reporting on ships calling at ports and other operations. The information is received by the state port authority, where the DUEPort system then automates workflows and refers them to the corresponding bodies to ensure compliance with operating and legal requirements: customs officials, civil guard, national police, the Spanish navy, border health officials, merchant navy, etc. Information is also delivered to the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), via the European SafeSeaNet (SSN) system, with SASEMAR (Maritime Security and Rescue Society) also kept informed. In contrast with other solutions offered to date, the DUEPort system is used at no cost for either private operators or port authorities.

DUEPort can also provide a local single maritime window for private agents at any port that so requires and at no cost.

Thanks to the new platform and the operational improvements that it introduces, ship docking times can be significantly reduced, as well as how long cargo is held at terminals. This means considerable cost savings, while increasing port capacity and rendering facilities more competitive for international trade, which has a beneficial ripple effect for the community of logistical operators. The paperless port concept, meaning all information is shared electronically, also allows for greater control over merchandise and helps to combat tax evasion and fraud.

Smart technology for the port and maritime industry

This project consolidates Indra's position as a leading technology provider to Spanish ports. It follows other single window and port community system deployments in countries such as Chile, Portugal, Morocco, Angola and Cape Verde.

Elsewhere in the port sector, Indra has deployed maritime traffic management systems (VTMIS) at ports in United Kingdom, Morocco, Poland and Senegal. In Poland a system provided by Indra controls all traffic in Polish waters of the Baltic Sea, covering the 12 biggest ports in the country and the mouth of the River Oder. In Brazil the multinational is deploying the country's first two VTMIS systems at the ports of Santos and Vitoria, as part of a national program.

Indra is also expanding and modernizing the global technological platform used at the Valparaíso port in Chile (PCS SILOGPORT), while it is one of the main technological providers for the Panama Canal expansion project.

Indra has also pioneered maritime surveillance systems, spearheading the Perseus European R&D project, aimed at ensuring security on all Mediterranean coasts. Countries such as Spain, Portugal, Latvia, Romania and Hong Kong all use Indra's systems to control vessel movements in their domestic waters.
