Learning Outcomes:

Provide knowledge about: kinematics, dynamics of mechanisms; power flow in mechanisms; 1 degree-of- freedom vibrations; balancing; fluid power technology; mechanisms with constant transmission ratio; stepless speed change gears; joints; clutches; brakes.

Course Organisation Details

1 Structure and kinematics of machinery (introduction; bodies and constraints; kinematic chains; planar motion; planar kinematic chains)

2 Forces in ideal kinematic pairs 3 Forces in real dry kinematic pairs

4 Lubrication (hydrodynamic lubrication, hydrostatic lubrication, lubrication technologies) 5 Realization of elementary kinematic pairs

6 Power flux and force transmission (energetic balance, steady-state, transient state, motor-gear-load coupling)

7 Vibrations of 1 degree-of-freedom linear systems (free and forced motion, active and passive isolation, critical speed)

8 Balancing (static and dynamic balancing, balancing of articulated mechanisms) 9 Fluid power technology

10 Transmission mechanisms (friction wheels, gears, ordinary gears, epicyclical gears, reducing gears, transmissions with belt and ropes, stepless speed change gears; joints; clutches; brakes.
