Non sono pochi, negli ultimi tempi, i visitatori che hanno definito Trieste “il segreto che non era ancora stato svelato”. Con la bella stagione e con l’attenuarsi delle restrizioni causate dall’epidemia di Covid-19 la città è ritornata la meta gettonata di numerosi turisti. Sono tornate le scolaresche italiane che scelgono Trieste come tappa fondamentale del loro viaggio di istruzione:

con le sue atmosfere e i monumenti dedicati ai momenti salienti del Novecento, la città rappresenta un incredibile compendio delle pagine più significative e dolorose del secolo passato.

L’architettura tipica dell’Impero asburgico, luoghi della memoria come la Risiera di San Sabba, la foiba di Basovizza e la sinagoga, i caffè letterari e i vicoli della Cittavecchia costituiscono l’ossatura di un posto in cui è interessante passeggiare e

mitteleuropea conoscono e frequentano Trieste da decenni, la città è una recente scoperta per molti turisti del Nord Europa e del resto d’Italia. Non più un luogo di passaggio mentre ci si reca al mare sulle coste istriane e dalmate, non più la tappa di una gita in giornata, adesso è l’epoca dei Turisti a Trieste! Buona lettura.

In recent times, many a visitor has defined Trieste as “the secret yet to be revealed”. With the warm season and the easing of Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, the city has once again become a popular destination for many tourists. Italian students who choose Trieste as a main destination of their school trips are back:

with its atmospheres and monuments dedicated to the highlights of the Twentieth century, the city

distinctiveness of the season. Boys compete in diving competitions, the Delfino Verde motor ships connect the maritime station with Muggia, Barcola, Grignano and Sistiana by sea and under the Karst’s trees on the plateau, many osmize welcome travellers for a simple, yet satisfying food and wine stop.

If visitors to the Central European area have known and visited Trieste for decades, the city is a recent discovery for many tourists from Northern Europe and the rest of Italy. No longer a thoroughfare while continuing on towards the sea on the Istrian and Dalmatian coasts, no longer a stop on a day trip, now it is the age of tourists in Trieste! Enjoy reading.

Gedenkstätten wie das KZ Risiera di San Sabba, die Foiba in Basovizza und die Synagoge, die literarischen Kaffeehäuser und die kleinen Gassen der Altstadt bilden das Rückgrat einer Stadt, die es sich bei einem gemütlichen Spaziergang lohnt, besser kennenzulernen.

Im Sommer kommt der mediterrane und levantinische Charakter Triests zum Vorschein:

Die Strandbäder, die Uferpromenade in Barcola, die Terrassen mit Blick auf den Golf und die Fahrradwege erlauben es, die Jahreszeit in vollen Zügen zu genießen.

Jungs und Mädchen fordern sich gegenseitig zum Wasserspringen heraus, die Fähren des Delfino Verde verbinden den Passagierhafen mit Muggia, Barcola, Gringano und Sistiana und im Schatten der Bäume im Karst empfangen die osmize Besucher:innen mit

Le città costiere offrono un punto di vista in più: si possono ammirare dal mare, cambiando la prospettiva. E per vedere Trieste “da fuori”

basta fare una passeggiata fino alla fine del Molo Audace (lungo 246 metri) che già si gode di una vista diversa. La Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, con la sua architettura chiara ed elegante e il castello di San Giusto che la sovrasta quasi a proteggerla è affascinante,

soprattutto al tramonto di una giornata luminosa quando i mosaici dorati del palazzo della Prefettura riflettono un'insolita luce rosata.

Oppure di notte, col bagliore della facciata del municipio e dei palazzi circostanti che si riflettono sull'acqua.

Ma anche il giorno rivela le sue sorprese. Da sinistra, l'altopiano carsico che abbraccia il golfo, coi suoi quartieri residenziali e il

santuario di Monte Grisa dalla caratteristica forma trapezoidale, il Faro della Vittoria, e poi scendendo le Rive su cui spiccano Palazzo Carciotti con la sua inconfondibile cupola, i due campanili della chiesa di San Nicolò dei Greci, la facciata rosa del Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi. Spaziando lo sguardo a destra, le Rive continuano oltre Piazza Unità con il sontuoso Hotel

Excelsior che domina la Riva del Mandracchio, seguito da una teoria di palazzi neoclassici.

Ma se volete staccarvi da terra e prendere il largo potete imbarcarvi sul Delfino Verde che parte dal Molo Bersaglieri. Accomodatevi sul ponte superiore, all'aperto, e mentre il vento vi scompiglia abiti e capelli passerete davanti agli hangar della Stazione Marittima. In men

che non si dica, vi troverete al largo e potrete abbracciare la città nella sua interezza, ne distinguerete i colli, l'altopiano, i tetti rossi che si fondono col paesaggio boschivo. Superata la diga, il traghetto si dirige verso Barcola. La costa è verde, il Bosco del Bovedo quasi prepotente nel suo verdeggiare selvaggio. Il Faro della Vittoria svetta bianco e severo, le case si diradano man mano che

lo sguardo sale, e ai piedi di Monte Grisa, solo il bosco.

the wooded landscape. After passing the seawall, the ferry heads towards Barcola. The coast is green, dominated by the Bovedo woods. Victory Lighthouse stands out white and severe, Barcola opens up with its marina, Then the promenade, characterised by the pine forest and the blue canopies of the Topolini, the bathing establishments with free admission. At the top of the plateau and half-hidden by greenery, the bell tower of Contovello church. Then, a sudden emotion: the white Miramare Castle appears like a pearl set in the green sea.

You’ll pass very close, you can also see its pier with the sphinx that Maximilian of Habsburg had brought from Egypt to Trieste and the white cliffs, maritime pines, holm oaks and cypresses. Suddenly the ferry heads towards the

shore. It docks at Grignano port. Whomever wants to, can go ashore to visit the Castle’s park or stop for a swim in the adjacent establishment. Or continue the crossing towards Sistiana.

Küstenstädte bieten immer einen Blickpunkt mehr als die anderen: Man kann sie vom Meer aus betrachten und den Blickwinkel ändern.

Um Triest von „außen“ zu sehen, braucht man nur einen Spaziergang bis zum Ende des Molo Audace (Länge: 246 m) zu machen und schon hat man eine andere Perspektive.

Beeindruckend sind die Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia mit ihrer hellen und eleganten Architektur und das Schloss San Giusto, das schützend

über der Piazza thront. Vor allem bei Sonnenuntergang, wenn sich das besondere rosafarbene Licht in den goldenen Mosaiken des Präfekturpalasts

widerspiegelt, oder bei Nacht, wenn sich die beleuchteten Fassaden des Rathauses und der umliegenden Gebäude im Wasser spiegeln.

Aber auch der Tag hält einige Überraschungen bereit. Der Golf wird von der Hochebene geradezu „umarmt“.

Links erkennt man die höherliegenden Wohnviertel, die trapezförmige

Wallfahrtskirche Monte Grisa und den Leuchtturm.

Weiter unten verläuft dann die Uferpromenade mit dem Palazzo Carciotti und seiner unverwechselbaren Kuppel, den beiden Glockentürmen der Kirche San Nicolò dei Contovello. Poi, un'emozione

improvvisa: il candido Castello di Miramare, visto mille volte sulle guidine o sui siti turistici , vi appare come una perla incastonata nel mare verde. Ci si passa vicinissimi, l'angolazione è inaspettata, si vede anche il suo molo con la sfinge che Massimiliano d'Asburgo fece condurre dall'Egitto a Trieste e le falesie bianche del parco naturale sormontate da pini marittimi, lecci e cipressi. Ma improvvisamente il traghetto si dirige verso riva. Si attracca al porticciolo di Grignano.

Potete fermarvi a fare il bagno nell'adiacente stabilimento o salire la scalinata e visitare il parco del Castello. Oppure continuare la traversata fino a Sistiana.

they can be admired from the sea, And to see Trieste “from the outside”, just take a walk to the end of Molo Audace (246 meters long) which already offers a different view. Unity Square with its clear and elegant architecture and the castle of San Giusto overlooking it, are fascinating, especially at sunset when the golden mosaics of the Prefecture building reflect an unusual pink light. Or at night with glowing lights of the town hall and the surrounding buildings reflecting off the water.

But even during the day many surprises are revealed. From the left, the Karst plateau that embraces the gulf with its residential districts and

the Mount Grisa sanctuary, Victory Lighthouse (Faro della Vittoria) and then descending the Rive on which Palazzo Carciotti with its unmistakable dome can be found, the two bell towers of the Church of San Nicolò dei Greci, the pink facade of the Giuseppe Verdi Opera House. On the right, the Rive continue beyond Unity Square with the sumptuous Hotel Excelsior followed by various Neoclassical buildings.

But should you wish to get

away from land, there is

In no time at all, you will

find yourself offshore and

you can embrace the city in

its entirety, distinguishing

the hills, the plateau, the

red roofs that blend with

Greci und der rosafarbenen Fassade des Opernhauses Giuseppe Verdi. Weiter rechts geht es dann an der Piazza Unità, dem noblen Hotel Excelsior an der Riva Mandracchio und den zahlreichen klassizistischen Palazzi vorbei.

Sollten Sie hingegen Lust haben, in See zu stechen, können Sie die Fähre Delfino Verde vom Molo Bersaglieri nehmen. Nehmen Sie am oberen Deck im Freien Platz und genießen Sie den Wind. Für Frisuren und besondere Outfits wird allerdings keine Gewähr übernommen. Die Fähre fährt am Passagierhafen vorbei und im Nu ist man auf offenem Meer, wo man die ganze Stadt und die Hügel, die Hochebene, die roten im Wald verschwindenden Dächer sehen kann. Sobald man

am Damm vorbeigefahren ist, nimmt die Fähre Kurs in Richtung Barcola. Die Küste ist grün und der Wald Bovedo bildet einen üppigen Farbrahmen. Weiß und streng ragt der Siegesleuchtturm von der Küste empor, weiter oben werden die Häuser immer weniger und am Fuße des Monte Grisa ist dann nur mehr Wald zu sehen.

Dort, wo der Yachthafen zu sehen ist, beginnt die Ortschaft Barcola mit seinen Segelvereinen und dem Kirchturm. Dann kommt der Pinienhain und die hellblauen Plattformen der Topolini, dem freien und bei den Triester:innen so beliebten Strandbad. Auf der Hochebene darüber sieht man den von den üppigen Pflanzen fast versteckten Glockenturm von Contovello. Dann macht das Herz plötzlich einen

Sprung: Das weiße Schloss Miramare, das man in den Stadtführern oder im Internet so oft gesehen hat. Wie eine vom grünen Meerwasser eingefasste Perle steht es da. Ganz nahe kommt man daran vorbei, die Perspektive ist unerwartet, man sieht auch den kleinen Pier mit der Sphinx, die Maximilian von Habsburg aus Ägypten nach Triest liefern ließ, und die weißen Klippen des Naturparks mit den Pinien, Steineichen und Zypressen.

Und dann fährt die Fähre Richtung Ufer und legt am kleinen Hafen in Grignano an.

Hier kann man im Strandbad das Wasser genießen oder die Treppe in den Park des Schlosses hinaufgehen und ihn besichtigen. Oder mit der Fähre weiter nach Sistiana fahren.

The most famous name that immediately comes to mind when thinking of Trieste is Italo Svevo, the writer who with his short stories and novels, in particular in "The conscience of Zeno” recounted sections of early Twentieth century European life with depth and irony. A statue has been dedicated to the novelist and playwright in Hortis Square, in front of the Civic Library that Svevo frequented and where he holed up to study, read and write.

It is holding a book and he is certainly one of the emblems of the Julian city still today.

James Joyce is one of the fundamental authors in the history of world literature. Joyce lived and taught English for several years in Trieste but where he also began to compose his most famous opera, “Ulysses”, in several episodes inspired by his time spent in Trieste. The Irish writer lived in different areas of the city, one of these

Also Italian poetry is linked to Trieste, particularly thanks to the intense and poignant verses of Umberto Saba. The author of the "Canzoniere", who made his city a space for the soul to sing and to reflect oneself in, has a statue that depicts him about to reach, from via Dante, the bookshop belonging to him in via San Nicolò. Saba often smoked a pipe and walked aided by a stick: these two accessories, carefully partnered with the statue, are often prey to vandals and jokers who enjoy detaching them, thus robbing the poet and all citizens.

Il nome più famoso che fa subito pensare a Trieste è Italo Svevo, lo scrittore che con i suoi racconti e romanzi, in particolare “La coscienza di Zeno”, ha raccontato spaccati di vita europea di inizio Novecento con profondità e ironia. Al romanziere e drammaturgo è stata dedicata una statua che si trova in piazza Hortis, di fronte alla Biblioteca civica che Svevo frequentava e in cui si rintanava per studiare, leggere e scrivere. Ha in mano un libro ed è sicuramente uno degli emblemi ancora oggi della città giuliana.

Anche la poesia italiana è legata a Trieste, in particolare grazie ai versi intensi e struggenti di Umberto Saba. L’autore del

“Canzoniere”, che fece della sua città un luogo dell’anima da cantare e in cui specchiarsi, possiede una statua che lo raffigura in procinto di raggiungere, da via Dante, la libreria che fu del poeta in via San Nicolò. Saba fumava spesso la pipa e passeggiava aiutato da un bastone: questi due accessori, accuratamente abbinati alla statua, sono spesso preda di vandali e buontemponi che si divertono a staccarli, derubando così il poeta e tutta la cittadinanza.

In piazza della Borsa, seduto su una panchina, c’è Gabriele

questa statua, contestata da alcuni nel periodo in cui fu posizionata in centro città, è stata spesso presa di mira da mani sconosciute che l’hanno ricoperta di vernice. Ma sono tanti anche i turisti che si fotografano vicini a d’Annunzio, intenti a sbirciare nel suo libro.

Negli ultimi tempi sono comparse altre due statue: a Montegrisa, davanti al santuario mariano, ecco monsignor Antonio Santin, il vescovo che negli anni bui della seconda guerra mondiale si spese tanto per la cittadinanza, mentre sulle rive, all’imboccatura del Canal Grande, c’è adesso Josef Ressel, geniale inventore dell’elica navale che duecento anni fa arrivò a Trieste come guardia forestale e poi legò per sempre il suo nome al mare e alla navigazione.

ist auf der Piazza Hortis, gegenüber der Stadtbibliothek, eine Statue gewidmet. In dieser Bibliothek verkroch sich Svevo zum Lernen, Lesen und Schreiben. Die Statue trägt ein Buch in der Hand und ist heute noch ein Emblem der Stadt.

James Joyce ist einer der wichtigsten Autoren der Weltliteratur. Er lebte mehrere Jahre in Triest, wo er Englisch unterrichtete und mit seinem bekanntesten Werk „Ulysses“

begann. Für einige Episoden davon ließ sich der irische Schriftsteller von seiner Zeit in Triest inspirieren. Er wohnte in verschiedenen Stadtteilen, wie z. B. am Canal Grande, über dem auf der von Fußgängern und Verkehrsmittel überquerte Brücke seine Statue mit der runden Brille und dem typischen Strohhut steht.

Aber auch die italienische Dichtung ist mit Triest verbunden, und zwar

dank der gefühlvollen und leidenschaftlichen Verse von Umberto Saba. Der Autor der Gedichtsammlung „Il Canzoniere“, der aus seiner Stadt einen Ort der Seele machte, den man besingen soll und in dem man sich widerspiegeln kann, hat auch eine Statue bekommen. Sie steht in der Via Dante und zeigt den Literaten, als spaziere er gerade zu seiner nahegelegenen Buchhandlung in der Via San Nicolò. Saba rauchte oft Pfeife und verwendete zum Spazieren einen Stock: Diese beiden Gegenstände der Statue werden von Vandal:innen oder gar nicht so lustigen Spaßvögeln leider oft entfernt, wobei dabei nicht nur der Dichter sondern die gesamte Bevölkerung der Stadt beraubt werden.

Auf der Piazza della Borsa sitzt ein lesender Gabriele d’Annunzio auf einer Bank. Die Statue soll an die Beziehung des fantasievollen Schriftstellers zu Triest, zu Rijeka und zu der

Umgebung erinnern. Die Statue, deren Aufstellung umstritten war, wurde von Unbekannten schon öfter mit Farbe beschmiert. Allerdings lassen sich auch viele Tourist:innen mit d'Annunzio fotografieren, während sie versuchen in sein Buch zu schauen.

In letzter Zeit sind zwei neue Statuen dazugekommen:

Bei Montegrisa, vor der Wallfahrtskirche, steht die Statue von Antonio Santin. Der Bischof setzte sich während des Zweiten Weltkriegs für die Bevölkerung ein. An der Uferpromenade in Triest bei der Einfahrt des Canal Grande wurde hingegen die Statue von Josef Ressel aufgestellt.

Der geniale Erfinder der Schiffsschraube kam vor 200 Jahren als Förster nach Triest und sein Name ist jetzt für immer mit dem Meer und der Schifffahrt verbunden.

Il castello di Duino… in realtà sono due castelli!

Nel piccolo borgo affacciato sull’Adriatico, sulla strada costiera che da Trieste porta verso Monfalcone e poi verso Venezia, la natura è rigogliosa e incantevole e sugli speroni di roccia circondati dalle falesie ecco sorgere il vecchio castello e quello nuovo. Il primo, di cui rimangono i resti, fu costruito dai Romani come avamposto e vedetta e poi rimase al centro di un borgo fortificato che era guidato dai vassalli del patriarca di Aquileia.

Il castello nuovo risale alla fine del XIV secolo: è una dimora più grande e confortevole che passò nelle mani di diverse famiglie fino

Numerosi sono stati gli illustri ospiti che in passato hanno soggiornato qui. In the crag on top of which the marvellous garden, comprising flowerbeds, ponds and panoramic corners overlooking the sea lies, you can visit the bunker built by the German navy as a fortification of the so-called Berta line, the defensive line that the Nazis had devised to cover the entire Upper Adriatic at the points where they expected a potential landing of the allied army.

A legend beloved by adults and children alike, tells the story of the White Lady, an unfortunate noblewoman who it is said, fell into the sea from the castle: in the sparkling waters of Duino, there is a rock in the shape of a veiled woman that recalls this tragic heroine.

Das Schloss in Duino…

besteht eigentlich aus zwei Schlössern! Im kleinen Ort an der Adria, an der Küste von Triest nach Monfalcone und Venedig, befindet sich eine üppige und zauberhafte Landschaft und an der von Felsen umgebenen Klippe stehen das alte und das neue Schloss. Vom ersten sind nur noch Ruinen vorhanden. Es wurde von den Römern als Vorposten und Warte errichtet und später in ein kleines befestigtes Dorf eingegliedert, das von den Vasallen von Aquileia verwaltet wurde.

Das neue Schloss stammt aus dem 14. Jahrhundert: Es ist größer, bietet mehr Komfort und wurde von verschiedenen Familien bewohnt, bis es in den Besitz der Fürstenfamilie Thurn und Taxis gelangte,

den heutigen Besitzern des Schlosses, die noch immer dort wohnen. Besucher:innen dürfen den wunderschönen Park und einige

Räumlichkeiten besichtigen.

Zahlreiche prominente Gäste weilten hier, darunter die Komponisten Johann Strauß und Franz Liszt, der auf einem noch im Schloss befindlichen Klavier spielte, die Schriftsteller Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Gabriele d’Annunzio und Paul Valery, die so beliebte Elisabeth von Österreich, auch Sissi genannt, und vor allem Rainer Maria Rilke, der hier im Schloss seine wohlbekannten

„Duineser Elegien“ schrieb.

Auch Dante Alighieri soll in Duino verweilt haben und ein Felsen und einige Ecken sind sogar nach dem großen Dichter benannt.

Cari Turisti a Trieste, capita che siate venuti dalle nostre parti per ammirare la città e il mare, ma che ad un certo punto vi sia venuta la curiosità di visitare anche il nostro magnifico Carso. Se temete di non avere con voi l'attrezzatura giusta, non vi preoccupate. Ci pensiamo noi a suggerirvi alcuni itinerari facili e di soddisfazione, da Basovizza a Opicina.

Da Basovizza a Lipizza / Lipica

Si arriva a Basovizza con l'auto oppure con l'autobus 51 in partenza dalla stazione ferroviaria con passaggio in via Coroneo. Scesi in centro, si svolta a sinistra della chiesa fino ad arrivare al Sentiero Ressel. Da qui si può proseguire sull'ampia carrareccia coperta di ghiaiccio fino a Sežana (Slovenia), oppure svoltare a sinistra e seguendo le indicazioni si attraverserà il bosco fino a giungere a Trebiciano. L'alternativa più interessante è seguire le indicazioni verso Lipizza/Lipica, che ci porteranno attraverso il bosco fino al piccolo borgo sloveno famoso per i cavalli bianchi che pascolano liberamente nei prati che circondano il villaggio. Se amate pedalare, il percorso è adatto anche ai ciclisti.

Monte Stena

Se volete fare una passeggiata non troppo lunga ma di grande impatto, ecco il monte Stena.

Si raggiunge la chiesetta di San Lorenzo con l'automobile, sulla strada che congiunge Basovizza a Sant'Antonio in Bosco, e da qui ci si avvia seguendo il sentiero che dopo qualche centinaio di metri si apre sul ciglione carsico. La vista è favolosa e spazia dagli altopiani sloveni fino all'imponente Monte Carso e si apre infine sul golfo. Si passeggia dunque sul ciglione fino al cippo con la croce, e poi si rientra passando per il bosco.

Il Globojner e la città vista dall'alto

Anche questa è una passeggiata molto tranquilla e panoramica, adatta tanto ai pedoni quanto ai ciclisti. Si parte dal parcheggio di Padriciano poco prima dei campi da tennis. S'imbocca il sentiero CAI 44 e si segue fino al sottopassaggio.

Quindi una volta attraversato si risale e ci si trova sul sentiero 1 fino al vicinissimo parcheggio, quindi si prende il sentiero 18 sulla sinistra. Questo è di facilissima percorrenza, sia per i pedoni che per i ciclisti, e offre spettacolari visioni panoramiche sul golfo e la costa istriana.

Da Opicina a Monte Grisa E per concludere, un grande classico delle passeggiate triestine: ideale nella stagione calda in quanto ombreggiata, la strada Napoleonica si prende dall'obelisco di Opicina.

Il sentiero è di circa 3 km ed alla fine del percorso si raggiunge la suggestiva falesia della palestra di roccia. Davanti alla parete, lo sguardo può spaziare sul golfo, dall'Istria a Grado. Se siete in vena di una passeggiata un po' più sportiva (ma non impegnativa), sempre partendo dall'Obelisco prendete il Sentiero Cobolli, pochi passi sopra l'imbocco della Napoleonica. Camminando tra i boschi, giungerete infine al santuario mariano di Monte Grisa.

Il sentiero prosegue fino alla palestra di roccia, quindi si può rientrare per la Napoleonica. Per ristorarvi, potete raggiungere il centro di Opicina dove troverete negozi e bar, ristoranti e trattorie che propongono piatti tipici delle nostre zone ma con un tocco di innovazione.

are curiosi to visit our magnificent Karst as well. If you are concerned that you haven’t brought the right equipment with you, don't worry. Let us suggest some easy and satisfying itineraries, from Basovizza to Opicina.

From Basovizza to Lipica You can reach Basovizza by car or on bus 51 departing from the railway station and passing through Coroneo Road. Go down to the centre, turn left at the church and go on until until you reachRessel path. From here you can continue on the wide gravel-covered cart road to Sežana (Slovenia), or turn left and, following the signs, you will cross the wood until you reach Trebiciano. The most interesting alternative is to follow the roadsigns towards Lipizza / Lipica, which will take you through the woods to this small Slovenian village, famous for its white horses that graze freely in the meadows surrounding the village. If you love cycling, this route is also suitable for cyclists.

Monte Stena

If you want to try a walk that is not too long but of great impact, Mount Stena is for you. Reaching the church of San Lorenzo by car,

you take the road that connects Basovizza to Sant'Antonio in Bosco and from here you start following the path that after a few hundred metres opens onto the Karst brink.

The view is fabulous and ranges from the Slovenian highlands to the imposing Mount Carso and finally opens onto the gulf. You walk along the Karstic brink up to the memorial stone with the cross and then turn back and return through the woods.

The Globojner and the city seen from above

This is also a very quiet and scenic walk, suitable both on foot and by bicycle It starts from the Padriciano car park just before the tennis courts. Take CAI path 44 and follow it up to the underpass. Then, once crossed, go up again and you’ll find yourself on path 1 up to the nearby parking lot, then take path 18 on the left. This is a very easy level suitable both for pedestrians and cyclists and offers spectacular panoramic views of the gulf and the Istrian coast.

From Opicina to Monte Grisa And finally, a great classic of Triestine walks: ideal in the warm season since it’s shady, you take the Napoleonic road from the Opicina

obelisk. The path is about 3 km long and at the end of the path you reach the suggestive cliff of the rock gym.

In front of the wall, a sweeping gaze you can admire the gulf, from Istria to Grado. If you are in the mood for a slightly sportier (but not demanding) walk, always starting from the Obelisk take the Cobolli Path, a few steps above the entrance to the Napoleonic Road. Walking through the woods, you will finally reach the Marian sanctuary of Mount Grisa. The path continues up to the rock gym, then you can return to the Napoleonic Road. For refreshment, you can reach Opicina centre where you can find shops and bars, restaurants and trattorias offering typical dishes from our area but with a touch of innovation.

Von Basovizza Nach Lipica Nach Basovizza kommt man am besten mit dem Auto oder mit dem Bus Nr. 51, der am Bahnhof abfährt und über die Via del Coroneo fährt.

Wenn Sie einmal im Zentrum von Basovizza sind, müssen Sie links von der Kirche abbiegen und bis zum Ressel-Wanderweg gehen.

Von hier aus kann man auf dem breiten Kiesweg bis nach Sežana (Slowenien) spazieren oder nach links abbiegen und den Schildern auf dem Waldweg nach Trebiciano folgen. Eine interessantere Alternative ist Richtung Lipica zu gehen. Der Weg führt durch den Wald in den kleinen slowenischen Ort, der für seine weißen, hier frei weidenden Pferde bekannt ist. Der Weg ist auch für Fahrradtouren geeignet.

Monte Stena

Wenn Sie einen nicht zu langen, aber trotzdem eindrucksvollen Spaziergang machen wollen, ist der Monte Stena für Sie geeignet.

Mit dem Auto erreichen Sie die kleine Kirche in San Lorenzo, an der Straße von Basovizza nach Sant'Antonio in Bosco. Von dort aus gehen Sie den Weg entlang, der nach einigen hundert Metern auf

den Karstkamm führt. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend und reicht von den slowenischen Hochebenen über den imposanten Monte Carso bis zum Golf. Am Karstkamm entlang spazieren Sie bis zum Markstein mit dem Kreuz, bevor Sie dann durch den Wald wieder zurückgehen können.

Globojner Park und Aussicht auf die Stadt

Ein weiterer gemütlicher Weg mit Aussicht, der sowohl für Wanderer als auch für Radfahrer:innen geeignet ist. Sie starten vom Parkplatz in Padriciano kurz vor den Tennisplätzen, schlagen den Weg CAI 44 ein und gehen dann weiter bis zur Unterführung. Dann geht es hinauf und Sie befinden sich auf dem Weg Nr. 1 in der Nähe des Parkplatzes. Danach gehen Sie auf dem links gelegenen Weg Nr.

18 weiter, der für Wanderer und Radfahrer:innen sehr einfach ist und fantastische Aussichten auf den Golf und die istrische Küste bietet.

Von Opicina nach Monte Grisa

Abschließend stellen wir Ihnen noch einen Klassiker der Triester

Spaziergänge vor: In den warmen Jahreszeiten ist der Weg Strada Napoleonica ideal, da er viel Schatten bietet. Er beginnt beim Obelisk in Opicina, ist ca. 3 km lang und verläuft am Ende an einer suggestiven Felswand für Kletterfans entlang. Von hier schweift der Blick von Istrien über den Golf bis nach Grado. Wenn Sie einen sportlicheren (doch nicht anspruchsvollen) Spaziergang machen wollen, können Sie vom Obelisken aus den Cobolli-Weg nehmen, nur wenige Meter vom Startpunkt der Napoleonica entfernt. Auf dem Weg im Wald erreichen Sie die Wallfahrtskirche in Monte Grisa. Der Weg führt auch an der Kletterwand vorbei, daher kann man von dort wieder nach Opicina zurückwandern. Wenn Sie sich erquicken wollen, können Sie ins Zentrum von Opicina gehen, wo es Geschäfte, Cafés, Restaurants und Gasthöfe gibt, die typische Gerichte mit einem modernen Touch anbieten.
