INDRA PRESENTS ITS WI-FI CONTENT SOLUTION FOR TRANSPORT AT INNOTRANS

The world's pioneering transport solution that offers passengers multimedia digital content via their mobile devices, without requiring an Internet connection, may be tested at the company's stand at the rail industry's most important fair

The company will also showcase its newest developments in railway safety and signaling at the international fair in Berlin, like a new railway ATP system or its RBC system, and will demonstrate how these open and integratable solutions facilitate interoperability with all types of systems

Indra is a world leader in innovation-based rail technology and a member of the Governing Board of Shift2Rail, Europe's leading R&D&i initiative in the industry

Madrid, September 16, 2016.- Indra will present its innovative solution for offering transport users multimedia digital content over their mobile devices via Wi-Fi at Innotrans, the rail sector's most important international fair, held in Berlin between September 20-23.

This streaming solution for transmitting and reproducing content is unique in the world, as it makes it possible to offer the service without requiring an Internet connection, through a high-quality data transfer that is processed as a regular, continuous flow. This is possible thanks to the versatility and capabilities of Indra's Nauta onboard unit that acts as a smart server.

As the visitors at the Indra stand in Berlin will be able to verify, passengers can connect to the platform via Wi- Fi. Entering their username and password will bring up the menu of content offered by the operator directly on their device. Users can then choose and instantly open any item that interests them, without having to download the same. Another of this tool's advantages, which will be implemented in Spain's high-speed railway, is that the system recalls the user so that, for example, when on a round-trip journey, a passenger may continue watching a movie or reading a book from the point last left off at.

Indra will also display in Berlin its latest developments in the field of railway safety and signaling. Among these is worth highlighting a completely renewed and updated ATP (automatic train protection) system already installed in northern Spain. This wayside system is deployed in conjunction with the onboard component fitted on trains. It provides continuous speed supervision, and enacts automatic braking should trains exceed signal limits at any given time. The new beacons include new features, double-checking signals and ensuring constant supervision of trains at all times. A train will therefore automatically come to a halt should the driver fail to comply with a given signal or speed limit.

The new proprietary ATP and the RBC (Radio Block Center) systems are cornerstones and necessary elements in the Level 2 European rail traffic management system (ERTMS), and hold top-level SIL 4 security certification. Both are also part of another Indra development: InVITALRAIL, a generic, innovative technological platform for critical railroad safety systems. The platform has already undergone testing and certification, and is being deployed in a number of projects in Spain and internationally.

Some elements of Indra's Operation Support System (SAE), implemented in over 14,600 buses worldwide, or the company's ticketing systems, in use by many subways and railway networks across the five continents, will also be exhibited at the fair.

Open technology, interoperable with any system

Indra will display at Innotrans how its open and integratable InVITALRAIL platform and ERTMS solutions facilitate interoperability with any other provider's systems. This assures the client the inexistence of neither

proprietary solutions nor technologies, which entail licensing costs for their modification or redistribution, facilitates the system's technological development and protects the investment made.

Thus, Indra will present the first open security protocol between the interlocks, systems providing data on an infrastructure's condition, and the RBC system, based on the RaSTA (Rail Safe Transport Application) standard.

The Indra solution, furthermore, enables standardized integration between signaling systems and train control systems, allowing for infrastructure scalability and optimization.

Innovation-based leadership

Indra is a world leader in rail technology, offering solutions for infrastructures, including their management, operation, safety, and for train operators. Thanks to a firm commitment to innovation, Indra's proprietary solutions have carved out a place at the very forefront of the global sector and have been deployed to modernize rail infrastructures in Spain, Lithuania, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, China, Malaysia, the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia and Morocco, among others. This leadership has turned Indra into the benchmark technology provider within the Spanish consortium formed for the Saudi Arabia Mecca-Medina high-speed rail link project.

A member of the Governing Board of the main European initiative for innovation in the railroad sector, Shif2Rail, Indra obtained this position on the strength of its advanced developments in traffic control and rail signaling, payment systems and new solutions for improving passenger service, as well as its commitment to innovation.

The DaVinci system, developed by Indra as a result of its R&D, is now well-established as the world's most advanced rail traffic control platform. As well as controlling close to 3,000 kilometers of high-speed railroad in Spain, the system is also deployed in countries such as Colombia, Lithuania and Morocco. It also oversees 500 kilometers of the high-speed railroad in Saudi Arabia, and will be used in Turkey's future high-speed network, set to extend over some 2,000 kilometers over the coming years.

Indra is one of the world leaders in ticketing. It offers its own solutions and has worked in projects for the subways in Madrid, Barcelona, Medellín, Santiago de Chile, Cairo, Calcutta and Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur monorail, the light rail in St Louis, and the suburban railroad in Mexico City, among others. Indra is currently working on the world's largest ticketing contract to date and is implementing all of the ticketing and access control systems for the new public transportation system being developed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The company's commitment to innovation has seen it recently launch a new latest generation technological platform for railroad safety. It includes cutting-edge hardware and on-track and onboard systems for Spain's digital ASFA standards (ATP), Europe's ERTMS level 2 system, including its own RBC system, a required on- track element and cornerstone of the system.

Lastly, Indra also contributes toward the railroad industry its wide-ranging expertise in a number of industries, supporting synergy generation and the transfer of technology between fields, as well as driving more integrated and intermodal mobility management, as regards ticketing, control and planning, information systems, etc.
