Course catalogue of the Master degree program in Physics A.A. 2017/18

Laurea Magistrale in Fisica LM-17 Students may choose among the following four dfferent tracks offered:

Microphyiscs Curriculum (6,6,28,6)

 Track: Particle and astroparticle physics

 Track: Condensed Matter Physics: Fundamental Science and Nanotechnology Geophysics and Space Curriculum (6,6,18,16)

 Track: Physics of the environment and meteorology

 Track: Space Physics

There is an International double degree program, in Condensed matter Physics with a compulsory mobility to Gdansk Polytechnic school in the second year, often supported by mobility grants.

Students willing to enrol in the International program are encouraged to participate to a selection which is published, on a yearly basis, on the web-site of the Master degree program

The following Tables list the different courses offered in each track, specifying the name, scientific- and disciplinary code (SSD), the credits according to the ECTS classification, and the activity type T (legend: B = characterizing, and compulsory, C = integrative, S = elective), Y = course year and semester (S). The links point to the description of each single course.

Free student’s choice** 8 D

*These courses are specified in the following tables and are within "Astrophysical, geophysical and space sciences" (SSD FIS/05, FIS/06, o GEO/12) for tracks: Space physics and Physics of the environment and meteorology, and within "Microphysical and of the structure of matter" (SSD FIS/03 o FIS/04) or

"Theory and Physics fundamentals" (SSD FIS/02) for tracks: Particle and Astroparticle physics and Condensed Matter Physics: Fundamental Science and Nanotechnology

** 8 ECTS can be freely chosen by the students within the second year.

Each student may use these ECTS, according to his/her own track and interests, within the two year degree in the following ways:

1. A course offered within the degree program

2. Additional topics to offered courses: the students will complement and integrate his/her knowledge on specific topics, which are not part of the regular program, under the supervision of the teacher.

Students with a bachelor degree in non-Physics programs, could be required to attend some courses of the bachelor program (1st degree cycle) in Physics according to the suggestions of the Study Board in Physics:
