Tutorial for installing Oracle Database 18c Express Edition and SQL Developer (Windows)

This guide explains how to install the Oracle DBMS, where the databases we want to query will be stored, and Oracle Sql Developer, a free graphical tool/environment to run queries and SQL scripts to a database stored in an Oracle DBMS.

ORACLE DATABASE 18c EXPRESS EDITION INSTALLATION

To download the software go to the link:

https://www.oracle.com/database/technologies/xe-downloads.html

Accept the conditions and download the Windows x64 version. You are prompted to create an Oracle account in order to proceed with the download.

Download and extract the zip file, run the setup file to install the software. During installation you will be asked to enter the password that will be used to log in as administrator (SYS or SYSTEM user).

ORACLE SQL DEVELOPER INSTALLATION

To download the software go to the link:

https://www.oracle.com/tools/downloads/sqldev-v192-downloads.html

Download the 64-bt Windows version with JDK 8. Extract the downloaded zip file.

To open Oracle SQL Developer simply run the file sqldeveloper.exe:
