2 First Day of Class

Please meet at trinity college front gates at 11:00am and an Eli Representative will meet you at 11:15am

Ask your Host family to tell you the best route to the city and back home.

On Sunday you will meet outside the Savoy Cinema, 17 O'Connell Street Upper, North City, Dublin 1 at 08:30

On your first day of Activities

Please meet at Trinity College front gates at 09:50

3 On arrival in Dublin airport:

If your flight arrival time changes for any reason please inform us on (dial 00 353 83 380 0558)

If there is a delay, and we are not informed in time, you may miss your transfer

An ELI representative will meet you in the airport arrivals hall If you get lost:

If you ever get lost, please call your group leader and the ELI Dublin Emergency phone.

Please stay in the same place, close to something you can describe like a shop, street name, or business.

Don’t panic, we’ll be able to find you. Don’t speak to strangers unless they are a shop keeper, and do not go anywhere with someone unless ELI or your group leader gives you permission.

Important Safety Guidelines during your stay in Ireland:

Every student on the programme must:

Always carry your mobile phone, fully charged, in credit, and switched on.

Always carry the ELI Dublin emergency phone number.

Never enter public parks without adult supervision.

Never take short cuts – always stick to main roads you are familiar with.

Never take large amounts of cash, or original ID or passport documents around with you.

Avoid attracting attention by making noise in public spaces or talking to strangers.

Programme Rules:

If a student breaks any of the following rules they will face disciplinary action or expulsion:

Consuming any alcoholic beverage or entering a pub unsupervised.

Taking any type of illegal drug or un-prescribed medicine; or being around people who are.

Breaking curfew or disobeying ELI Dublin staff members.

Being absent from school without permission.

Shop lifting or breaking any law.

Travelling outside your residential area without the permission of ELI Dublin and your parents/guardian.

Any acts which might cause injury to someone or damage to someone’s property

Disturbing class or behaving inappropriately or unacceptably during class.

08:30 Full Day Kilkenny Bus Tour. Discover Ireland's medieval capital - Kilkenny, the magnificent Wicklow Mountains and Glendalough. A relaxing & great fun tour!

Monday 02-September

11:00 Meet at Trinity College

Orientation Tour, the best activity for your first day, explore and get to know the city and its attractions. Starting from Trinity College, the tour will finish in O’ Connell Street. On this gentle walk the students will encounter many of the famous Dublin spots, such as Ha’ Penny bridge, Molly Malone statue, Temple Bar, St. Stephen’s Green, Merrion Square, Phil Lynott statue, College Green, among others. Our activities leaders will share their love for the city with you and make you feel like a true Dubliner.

Tuesday 03-September

10:15 The Book of Kells exhibition is a must-see on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Founded in 1592 Trinity is Ireland’s oldest university. Explore the central campus and add-on the popular tour of The Book of Kells which dates from 384AD.

Wednesday 04-September

10:00 Natural History Museum, sometimes called the “Dead Zoo”, the collection comprises over 2 million items, in the fields of zoology and geology; a million of the specimens being insects. It is one of the city’s oddest attractions

11:00 The archaeology Museum has a number of large permanent exhibits, mainly of Irish historical objects and also a few smaller exhibits on the ancient Mediterranean, For example:

Kingship and Sacrifice, the exhibition is based around the theory that human sacrifice and the deposition of the victims in bogs along tribal boundaries is related to sovereignty and kingship rituals during the Iron Age and Viking exhibition that explores the Viking Age in Ireland through surviving objects, including objects from Viking graves of the 9th and 10th centuries and from settlement sites of the 10th to 12th centuries.

Thursday 05-September

10:00 Howth. Take a break from city-life and within 45 minutes by public transport you’ll be able to enjoy these picturesque seaside villages and the beautiful outdoors; Conveniently located beside the DART station, Howth Market is home to an array of Irish crafts, delicate handmade jewellery, and vintage antiques; perfect for gift shopping. Less than a ten-minute walk from the market, you’ll find Howth Castle and Grounds. Where to eat? Seafood takes center stage in the many pubs and restaurants of Howth. Try Leo Burdock, opened since 1913 and considered as one of the most famous fish and chips.

10:00 Dublin City Scavenger Hunt, it is a great activity to end on, this is a fun team activity with questions, challenges & prizes.

19:00: Evening Activity: Irish Music Night, sing along to live Irish music with a fun an entertaining guide and songbook.

Saturday 07-September

10:45 Dublinia, founded in 1030 Christchurch is Dublin’s oldest and one it’s most beautiful buildings. Combine with a tour of Dublinia which explores Ireland’s Viking past.
