2 LETTER FROM THE CHIEF

Dear Collectors,

Welcome to the new year! I am very excited for this year’s stamp programme, as we have some great United Nations stamps to be issued.

To start off the year, in January, UNPA will issue new Flag stamps featuring eight Member States of the United Nations. All of these stamps feature either flags that have a new design, or flags that have been re-adopted since the first issue of the stamps.

In February, UNPA will continue its Lunar Calendar series with the issuance of a personalized event sheet featuring the Year of the Dog. The tabs of the stamp and background design were illustrated by the very popular Chinese packaging designer Tiger Pan.

In March, UNPA will issue the twenty-fifth edition of its Endangered Species stamp series. For the past 25 years, UNPA has issued stamps to highlight the need for the protection of endangered species throughout the world. UNPA is proud to celebrate this milestone with CITES at the 2018 World Wildlife Day Conference, which will be to held at United Nations Headquarters in New York City on 2 March 2018.

In April, UNPA is issuing stamps and a souvenir card to commemorate World Health Day and the seventieth anniversary of the World Health Organization. The six stamp designs were illustrated by Sergio Baradat of the UNPA graphic design team.

We hope that you enjoy adding these new stamp designs to your collection. As always, we thank you for your interest in United Nations stamps, and we welcome your comments and suggestions.

United Nations stamps in United States dollar denominations are valid for postage only if mailed at United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. Stamps in Swiss franc denominations are valid for postage only if mailed at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. Stamps in euro denominations are valid for postage only if mailed at the International Centre in Vienna, Austria.

PRICES

Stamps are sold at face value. UN/Geneva and UN/Vienna stamps are sold at USD equivalent rates, rounded up to the nearest cent. The USD equivalents of the euro and Swiss franc denomination stamps are subject to fluctuating exchange rates.

Every effort is made to provide UNPA customers with materials of the highest philatelic quality. Therefore, all sales are final, and no exchange or refund will be made, except where stamps are received in damaged condition.

WHEN ORDERING BY MAIL

The item numbers used in this edition of Fascination identify the products and should be written on the order form in the “Item Number” column. The next column asks for a description of each item as a cross-reference. In this space, you may also indicate any specific requests, e.g., special marginal inscription (M.I.) positions.

Fill in the price in the appropriate column. Multiply the price by the number required of that particular item and enter the resulting figure in the “Amount” column on the order form. Total your order and indicate whether registration of the order is requested. Add postage and handling charges. Enclose your remittance, and mail it to the indicated address.

The new-issue stamps, stationery or other philatelic items have been pre-printed on the order form for your convenience.

ENDANGERED SPECIES

F or 25 years, the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) has is sued stamps to highlight the need for the protection of endangered species throughout the world. UNPA is proud to present this year’s collection celebrating this twenty-fifth anniversary milestone.

The stamps will be issued on 2 March 2018, which falls on Friday, and a day before the 2018 World Wildlife Day. It is an opportunity to celebrate the many beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora, and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that conservation provides to people.
