One significant aspect that still relates DL systems to OPACs is that the representation ofthe content ofthedigital objects that constitute the collection of interest is still done by professionals. The management of metadata can still be based on the use of authority control rules in describing author, place names and other relevant catalogue data. A DL system can exploit authority data that keep lists of preferred or accepted forms of names and all other relevant headings. This is a significant difference between DL systems and search engines, and it is usually overcome with the analysis of log data. Indeed, a search engine often becomes a specific component of a DL system, when the DL system faces the management and search ofdigital objects by content in the same manner as information retrieval systems and search engines [2]. In all other types of searches, the DL system makes use of authority data to respond to final users in a more consistent and coherent way through a search system that is a sort of a new generation OPAC system, or the system supports the full content search with a service that gives the final users the facilities of a search engine. Finally, it is worth pointing out that the access to each service a DL system provides is usually supplied through a Web browser, and not through a specifically designed interface. This means that the analysis of user interaction with systems that have a Web-based interface requires ways that support the reconstruction of sessions in a setting, like the Web, where sessions are not naturally identified.
Manuscript 5491 is preserved in thelibraryofthe Jewish Theological Seminary of New York. 131 The book dates back to 15 th century and its origin is Yemenite. The binding is posthumous if compared to the actual writing ofthe book and is registered under the James MacDonald company’s name (New York). Foliation has been added in pencil on the upper-left corner of each recto page. The manuscript consists of 160 leaves (written on paper), but many pages ofthe book are missing. The paper ofthe leaves is quite thick and generally speaking well-preserved. The first and last leaves ofthe book look particularly damaged, and evidence of modern conservation work is visible on the edges. Moreover, it has been observed an older type of reuse for preservation made by the insertion of extra-leaves; in fact, it can be noted an added reuse leave that exhibits a text in Arabic on both sides (fig. 1). The mise en page looks regular, the notes in the margin are limited in number and there are approximately 21 lines per page. The script is accurate, and text alterations and corrections are very rare; the handwriting looks similar all over the work. No illustration or miniatures are present in the work, but it does exhibit simple random decorations in the margin, and within the text with the purpose of highlighting some ofthe titles (fig. 2-3).
CILEA offers a document archival system based on the OAIS standard, which provides a mid-long term preserva- tion (10 years maximum). Although at the moment it does not offer dematerialization of documents, legal electronic record management, and electronic billing functionalities, the system can satisfy the requirements defined by the government through the Interdepartmental Technical Table - Technological Aspects of Permanent Preservation, depending on customers' needs.
"Virtual library is thelibrary without walls. By application of Internet, and the digitization, any user can use, search, retrieve and access and delivery the service, material, etc. resources by network. So thelibrary seems to be without walls, because user doesn't enter into thelibrary. Under this situation, thelibrary is virtual and non-existent. So we called the virtual library to be "Library without walls".
NERA SE is the new generation catalogue developed by CILEA and powered by Vufind, an open source discovery tool. NERA SE allows thelibrary users to find rosources owned or selected by thelibrary, like a traditional OPAC, but with new and innovative features. NERA SE is the “one shop stop” for all the resources, both digital and not, made available by the libraries to their users.
36 side, leading, in 2004, to the first STT induced switching in AlO based IP MTJs [91]. In 2005, the switching has been successfully demonstrated in MgO based MTJs with TMR>150% and small SCD [87], and later, in 2006, the first reversal in perpendicular spin-valves has been proved [92]. In 2010, the key milestone work by Ikeda et al. [31] has opened the design of OOP MgO based MTJs with perpendicular anisotropy [29, 93]. Specifically, it has been demonstrated that in these kinds of devices, the perpendicular anisotropy is dominated by the interfacial effects between the MgO barrier and the iron-rich CoFeB free layer, due to the electrostatic interaction between the 2d iron orbital ofthe ferromagnet and the 2p oxygen one ofthe spacer [31]. Perpendicular MTJs based STT-MRAMs have shown reduction ofthe critical current density (considering an equal thermal stability of IP memories), larger thermal stability thanks to the high anisotropy field, and manufacturability in smaller technology nodes down 30 nm. This last advantage over IP devices is owed to the thermal energy barrier dependence on only the effective perpendicular anisotropy, which avoids the use of elongated cross sections of MTJs (as, instead, happens for IP devices), enabling the fabrication of circular memories [89]. Furthermore, the possibility to manipulate the perpendicular anisotropy by means ofthe VCMA (see subparagraph 1.2.7), has led, in 2012, to electric field assisted STT-MRAMs characterized by a unipolar switching ofthe magnetization [29].
As natural catalysts, enzymes possess extremely various biological, catalytic, and physicochemical properties such as reactivity, specificity. Many of their characteristics are highly perspective for many industrial applications. Nowadays, enzymes are being largely and systematically developed, as environment-friendly catalysts for industrial economic purposes (Aehle 2004, Burk 2003, Bommarius & Riebel 2004). Currently the market slice devoted to industrial enzyme involves around two billions of US dollars per year, with more than 500 products for more than 50 major applications 5,6. However, at present time they hold an exiguous but quickly growing part in the whole specialty chemicals market in particular for biotechnological features.
64 Smith et al., 2007). The interaction between PhoN2 and OmpA was confirmed by in vivo formaldehyde cross-linking experiments (Fig. 16). Recent experimental evidence has shown that OmpA is a pore that may adopt alternative conformations, namely i) an eight-stranded β-barrel small pore with a large C-terminal domain which remains exposed into the periplasm, perhaps interacting with peptidoglycan; and ii) a 16-stranded β- barrel large pore, at physiological temperature, involving an additional eight β-strands from the C-terminal domain (Zakharian and Reusch, 2003, Zakharian and Reusch, 2005, Smith et al., 2007, Khalid et al., 2008). Therefore, our results clearly indicated that PhoN2 binds to the periplasmic exposed C-terminal domain of OmpA when this protein is in the eight- stranded β-barrel small pore conformation. Noteworthy, albeit OmpA is the interactor of PhoN2, it is not required for the polar localization of PhoN2, since we found PhoN2-HA polarly localized in a S. flexneri ompA mutant. (Figure 17). Analysis ofthe amino acid sequence of OmpA led us to identify a polyproline stretch ( 183 PAPAP 187 ) located in the C-terminal domain of OmpA. Trough a computational modeling of protein-protein interaction we hypothesized that this PAPAP stretch could substitute the PPPP motif of PhoN2 interacting with the invariant Y155 residue, stabilizing PhoN2-OmpA complex. Cross-linking experiments revealed the formation of a molecular complex between PhoN2 and the mutated derivative of OmpA. These results led us to conclude that the PAPAP motif is likely not involved in the PhoN2-OmpA interaction or that regions other than the PAPAP motif concurred in the interaction with PhoN2. Experiments based on the two-hybrid assay, using selected truncated OmpA polypeptides as baits, are underway to determine key residues involved in the interaction with PhoN2.
parable to two elliptical forms which touch each other on the long side. It features seven lines of Latin script, plus what seems to be a blank space and two almost entirely lost Greek lines. ChLA XLV 1348 — from now on b — is much thinner and slightly taller than a. It bears seven Latin lines, again a blank space, and remnants from five Greek lines. The dimension ofthe letters is the same on both scraps: 0.5 to 0.8 cm in height, 0.5 to 1 cm in length; the writing space amounts to about 0.4/0.6 cm. If compared, the scripts of a and b look identical, and the fragments most probably came from the same document. Their verso is blank. According to the ChLA, b might have been written against the fibres; this is true for a, where some thick vertical fibres are visible at the right edge ofthe document. The Latin script is an old Roman cursive, decidedly slanting to the right. The difference in thickness ofthe strokes may be due either to the events of its conservation, which may have determined the loss of ink at the centre ofthe manuscript (see a, ll. 3–4) as well as its preservation at the edges; or to the scribe, who refilled its pen with ink while composing the document. Notable letters seem to be c and g forming a narrow oval and being very high; forked e; n in two strokes (all of which to be found for instance in P.Dura 60 46 ); and
The main activity ofthe co-operative is to buy the members‘ production, that is, the nuts from the Babaçu coconuts and other products, such as rice, beans and corn. While the latter products are traded in local markets, the transformation ofthe Babaçu nuts and selling ofthe derived oil represent the co-operatives main economic activity. Moreover, the co-operative owns farmland which members can collectively cultivate, practicing agro-ecological and organic methods, where organic input is gradually substituting the use of pesticides, heavy machinery, such as tractors, and the traditional custom of land burn-off. At the moment, 43 families of COPPALJ members are involved in a specific training/productive program aimed at encouraging organic production, with the specific objective of food security for the families. These families are cultivating annual crops (such as rice, corn, beans and manioc) along with the Babaçu palms - 60 palms per hectare of land, as suggested by recent studies carried out in the region by ASSEMA. Such methods provide a solution also for gender conflicts in the families related to production, as the men were used to destroying Babaçu palms in favour of land to cultivate and, thus, the women were forced to go longer distances to collect the Babaçu nuts. Moreover, the co-operative‘s commitment to agro-ecological and organic production has enabled it to place the organic label of oil on its products, being the main output of COPPALJ.
or the Tevatron at the Fermilab laboratory, have confirmed all the SM predictions with a high level of accuracy, also considering the wide energy range scanned. Hovewer, one important piece was missing until its recent discovery at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the Higgs Boson, the particle responsible for the mass ofthe other SM particles, whose existence is postulated in the Brout-Higgs-Englert (BEH) mechanism. On the 4th July 2012 the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN laboratory announced the observation of a new particle, with a mass around 125 GeV having, so far, all the characteristics ofthe Higgs boson. In 2013, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded jointly to Peter Higgs and Fran¸cois Englert for their theoretical discovery confirmed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments. The detailed studies of couplings and properties of this new particle and the comparison with the expectations for the SM Higgs boson are the current focus ofthe ATLAS Collaboration. This thesis lies in this context, and presents the work done by the author within the ATLAS Collaboration, aiming at studying the
Therefore, it is actually more appropriate to perform this measurement in a phase space where a physics object, for instance a jet, has been already identified as a lepton with a loose set of selection criteria. This baseline selection defines the denominator for the computation ofthe misidentification probability. It must be loose enough to ensure that the selected sample in data is enriched in QCD events with respect to signal or other background processes. Then, the misidentification probability, denoted by fake-rate (FR), is measured as the fraction of these events for which the candidate lepton satisfies all the identification criteria ofthe analysis, that define the numerator. It should be noted that this definition ofthe FR is practically more suited for a physics analysis, for which selected events are already biased by the trigger selection. It should also be stressed that the FR is not a universal quantity, but strictly depends on the selection criteria defining the numerator and denominator.
The ADXL345 is well suited for mobile device applications. It measures the static acceleration of gravity in tilt-sensing applications, as well as dynamic acceleration resulting from motion or shock. Its high resolution (3.9 mg/LSB) enables measurement of inclination changes less than 1.0°.
