CONCLUSIONI

Dai dati risultanti dallo studio è emerso come un paziente obeso allettato aumenti notevolmente il carico di lavoro dell’infermiere, o per meglio dire degli infermieri. Poiché spesso due infermieri non sono sufficienti ad eseguire le manovre di assistenza che normalmente sono predisposte dalle linee guida per una o due persone. Non solo aumenta il carico del lavoro ma aumentano anche il numero di infermieri coinvolti e le tempistiche di assistenza. Questo implica un impegno maggiore da parte degli infermieri che spesso si trovano a dover affrontare sempre più spesso questa tipologia di pazienti, che in questa casistica rappresenta il 20%. Essi si trovano a dover garantire un’assistenza che permetta al paziente di ricevere una buona qualità assistenziale ma che senza gli opportuni presidi non sempre è realizzabile. Spesso i tempi di assistenza ai pazienti obesi comportano una minore qualità dell’assistenza agli altri pazienti non solo dal punto di vista pratico ma anche da quello educativo.

L’introduzione della figura dell’Operatore Socio Sanitario con formazione complementare, dovrebbe agevolare il carico di lavoro dell’infermiere permettendogli di pianificare l’assistenza al paziente e i relativi interventi, e di educare il paziente secondo quanto indicato dal processo di counseling. Per quanto riguarda il paziente obeso però, la figura dell’OSS con formazione complementare, spesso non può erogare assistenza, poiché l’obesità è spesso una patologia che si presenta in pazienti già complessi perché affetti da altre patologie, e che richiede un tipo di cure, accortezze e conoscenze che è propria dell’infermiere. È comunque l’infermiere a dover garantire un’adeguata assistenza al paziente obeso cercando di garantire la stessa qualità di assistenza complessiva anche al paziente normopeso. Spesso questo non è possibile, e l’infermiere si trova di fronte ad un notevole problema di gestione e di pianificazione dell’assistenza nelle cure primarie dei pazienti.
