3.4.4 Dai Fattori Critici di Successo agli Indicatori (KPI)
Lo step successivo consiste nella clusterizzazione dei fattori critici di successo appena individuati in dei macro-aggregati. Di seguito in Figura 10 e Figura 11 vengono illustrate due proposte originali ispirate da modelli già esistenti.

87 A questo punto, sarà richiesto a Garnell SGR di dare una priorità a queste macro-aree al fine di identificare quelle di maggior interesse e concentrare su quelle il focus. Tale metodologia porterà dunque alla selezione di circa tre indicatori per macro-area andando così a comporre un framework di una decina di indicatori significativi della situazione in cui si trova l’impresa oggetto di valutazione.

CONCLUSIONI
Da quanto illustrato nell’elaborato, è facile capire quali siano le potenzialità in ambito socio-ambientale dell’impact investing per l’economia nel suo complesso. A grandi potenzialità corrispondono, come sempre, grandi sfide da affrontare: in tal campo, la principale è la quantificazione dell’impatto generato. Come abbiamo visto, infatti, solo grazie alla misurazione dell’outcome è possibile favorire lo sviluppo del settore degli investimenti ad impatto.
Negli anni la letteratura ha proposto una molteplicità di framework di misurazione delle performance che tengono conto anche della dimensione extra- finanziaria. Il primo scoglio che si incontra nella misurazione è però quello del costo, sia in termini di tempo che di denaro. Per arrivare a rendicontare dimensioni extra- finanziarie è necessario infatti disporre di strutture formalizzate che si occupino della fase di raccolta dei dati e della successiva preparazione della reportistica. A ciò si deve aggiungere inoltre che gli unici sistemi di asseverazione della performance extra-finanziaria non sono open source e richiedono perciò il pagamento di una fee (vedi ad esempio il GIIRS). I framework open source sono invece spesso approcci basati su principi e di conseguenza il problema che li accomuna è il rimanere “staccati” dalla realtà: tutti dicono cosa in teoria si dovrebbe fare ma, al momento di passare al lato pratico della misurazione, nessuno propone un set di indicatori o una lista di parametri da misurare.
In un contesto di questo tipo, diventa dunque difficile per una piccola impresa (che solitamente non dispone di strutture informative aziendali formalizzate e che non può permettersi di pagare fee di asseverazione) giustificare di fronte a degli stakeholders il modo in cui determinate somme di denaro sono state investite ed hanno prodotto determinati rendimenti senza, appunto, disporre

di dati che dimostrino un più ampio ritorno in altre dimensioni, ovvero in campo ambientale e/o sociale.
Come dimostrato, l’assenza di informazioni non finanziarie può pregiudicare la decisione di investimento da parte di un soggetto terzo che crede nelle potenzialità di un’impresa. Come fare allora per capire se l’opportunità merita fiducia o meno? L’obbiettivo di questo elaborato era proprio quello di rispondere a questa domanda fornendo un nuovo strumento di valutazione open source della sostenibilità di un’azienda. Il focus, essendo sulla valutazione di aziende di piccole dimensioni, richiede di arrivare alla definizione di un framework sintetico e semplice da capire per tutti. A tal fine dunque, è stata adottata una metodologia di lavoro originale, che ha visto gli schemi tradizionali ripresi dalla letteratura solo come il punto di partenza per la definizione del nuovo modello. Attraverso il lavoro sul campo che ha visto il coinvolgimento di ben tre aziende, Garnell SGR in quanto promotrice del progetto ed Antica Macelleria Falorni e del consorzio La Granda come soggetti partecipanti, è stato possibile individuare le determinanti comuni del successo di due “top-player” del settore e di conseguenza rivedere i modelli proposti dalla letteratura alla luce di queste determinanti.
Questo lavoro ha così portato alla creazione ex-novo di un modello di valutazione a 360° della performance di piccole imprese che passa per la misurazione di solamente una decina di indicatori: questo consente così di superare in contemporanea i due limiti principali all’uso dei framework già esistenti. Il metodo si basa infatti su indicatori di performance e non su principi (che devono invece essere interpretati); inoltre, esso consente di limitare i costi da sostenere per la misurazione (misurare 10 indicatori richiede molto meno tempo che misurare tutti quelli che richiede uno standard come l’IRIS ad esempio), senza far sì però che tale sinteticità vada ad inficiare sull’attendibilità e sulla completezza della valutazione.

Ulteriori sviluppi di questo lavoro potrebbero innanzitutto focalizzarsi su un’applicazione ad un numero più ampio di aziende al fine di ottenere maggiori evidenze a supporto della validità del modello proposto. Altre fasi della ricerca potrebbero poi seguire la costruzione del sistema di rating associato al framework (occorre ricordare infatti che la richiesta iniziale mossa da Garnell SGR era di formalizzare uno strumento di valutazione che consentisse di ottenere un ranking dall’analisi delle aziende) ed infine, un ultimo filone potrebbe seguire la definizione dei set di “indicatori specifici”, ovvero una serie indicatori integrativi da affiancare a quelli del framework principale per una più completa ed affidabile valutazione di determinati comparti legati al mondo dell’agrifood (per esempio, macchinari agricoli, agroindustria di trasformazione, ecc.).
