9.1 Implicazioni cliniche

L’indagine del craving nei soggetti eroinomani sembra mancare di un valido strumento clinico. Dal nostro studio deriva quanto sia limitante domandare semplicemente la presenza o la gravità soggettiva di craving all’eroinomane.

Pare infatti che l’unico comportamento facilmente riconoscibile come craving da questi soggetti sia l’obsessive craving, mentre non lo sia qualunque altro comportamento connesso al disturbo.

Per tale ragione, appare chiaro che l'attenzione clinica debba essere posta non solo sui comportamenti che l’eroinomane riferisce come correlate al craving, ma soprattutto su quelli ai quali i pazienti rivolgono meno attenzione.

10. Conclusione

Da questo studio è emerso come l'autovalutazione che i pazienti tossicodipendenti da eroina rivolgono al proprio craving, sia connessa alla centralità dei pensieri riguardanti l'eroina, alla questione della scelta di eroina al posto di qualsiasi altra fonte di gratificazione e allo sforzo necessario per ottenere la sostanza in questione.

Dall'altro lato, appare invece come i comportamenti di maggiore impatto medico, non siano invece connessi a un'autovalutazione di comportamento da craving.
