Title of the research project: "Semiconductor Device Physics Laboratory (PhyLab)" (TN2295) + “Fondo sviluppo nuovi progetti – Lugli” (TN2426)”

Area of research: Electronic devices on flexible substrates fabricated using printing and microfabrication methods with a focus on fabrication and characterization of both thin-film materials and devices (e.g., sensors, actuators, and transistors), as well as their integration for healthcare, industrial, agricultural, and environmental applications.

Job description and type of support: During the first part of the contract, the candidate will work on the FESR project "Semiconductor Device Physics Laboratory (PhyLab)" (TN2295), with the following duties:

• Evaluation, ordering and purchasing of laboratory equipment and of the materials necessary for the equipment.

• Supervision of the equipment installations and reception of their instructions of use.

• Transfer of knowledge related to the equipment operation to laboratory users.

If the FESR project deadline will be extended, the candidate will be still employed on it until the end of the project.

For the remaining duration of the contract, the candidate will work on the “Fondo sviluppo nuovi progetti – Lugli” (TN2426), with the following duties:

• Organization of laboratory activities, especially of the use of the equipment and of its maintenance.

• Optimization of printing and micro-fabrication processes for the deposition of thin films (with a special focus on sputter deposition of oxides).

• Support of the laboratory activities specific to the different research projects, with a special focus on the characterization of the thin-film materials and of the devices realized with them.

• Realization and characterization of components and devices based on innovative materials and processes.

• Organization of research activities in the laboratories and support to the scientific production activities as a technical reference of the processes.

• Support for the preparation of scientific documents, proposals for research projects and reports requested by the funding bodies of the research projects.

• Support in the relationships with different industrial and academic research partners, locally, nationally, and internationally.

Annual goals: The supervisors define and assign annual targets in writing. Target achievement is linked to a performance bonus. The actual achievement of targets is checked by the supervisors, who will also indicate the corresponding percentage each year by 30 November at the latest.

Gross annual salary: Annual gross pay: 35.092,62 €

Language/es of the exams: English and German or Italian Admission requirements:

University degree: PhD or equivalent foreign study title in Electronic Engineering, Experimental Physics, or Material Science/Engineering or in a related scientific area.

Professional qualification of at least three years:

- Documented experience in use and maintenance of equipment for the deposition of material, for the realization of electronic devices and eventually for their electrical, chemical and structural characterization.

- Documented experience in a scientific laboratory management role, as well as managing relationships with companies and equipment suppliers.

Assessment criteria of the qualifications and publications (max. 100 points):

Academic degrees (max. 35 points):

• Master’s degree in Electronics, Material Science/Engineering, Experimental Physics or equivalent foreign study title: max. 10 points;

• PhD or equivalent foreign study title in Electronic Engineering, Experimental Physics, or Material Science/Engineering or in a related scientific area: max. 15 points;

• Documented research activity in qualified institutes in Italy or abroad: max. 10 points;

Publications (max. 20 points):

• Originality, innovativeness, methodological rigor and relevance of each scientific publication;

• Congruence of each publication with the competition sector;

• Scientific relevance of each publication’s editorial classification and their diffusion among the scientific community;

• Contribution of the candidate in publications with more than one author.

Research and practical experience (max. 45 points):

Research experience acquired on the specific topic of the research project through contracts, scholarships and assignments in domestic corporations, international or foreign corporations or at private institutions or companionships which perform attested research activity, as long as the beginning and the duration of the collaboration is evidenced as well as other qualifications that attest the evidenced professionalism of the candidate, as well as experience in the specific duties required by the announcement.

Evaluation criteria of the oral exam:

Language proficiency (max. 15 points):

- max. 5 points for English - max. 5 points for Italian - max. 5 points for German

The candidate’s language proficiency will be evaluated based on level of understanding, speaking fluency, and knowledge of the specialized terminology of the Academic recruitment field of the call.

Technical-scientific skills (max. 35 points)

The assessment will be based on the level of specific knowledge of the technologies and proficiency in the announcement.

Maximum number of publications: 10
