SNCR systems built to fit your plant needs

Our SNCR system is based on high performance designed modules which are assembled together to specifically ensure your NOx control processes meet your legislation needs.

Expert SNCR system

knowledge from Yara Miljö, formerly known as Petro Miljö

High performance SNCR systems, developed by our expert team at Yara Miljö, (formerly known as Petro Miljö), reduce up to 80% of the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction targets that need to be reached. This is significant versus alternative systems, and is a more cost efficient option than SCR systems. SNCR is the preferred solution for cement plants, waste incinerators and waste-to-energy plants.

Leader in SNCR systems, with over 200 installations

Petro Miljö was established in the 1990s. Its team of experts based in Gothenburg, Sweden, has a wide knowledge of client processes in cement plants, waste incinerators and waste-to-energy or biomass plants that require to reduce their NOx emissions.

In October 2011, Yara, a leader in solutions for NOx reduction including NOx reagent supplies of ammonia and urea, acquired this SNCR expert, now known as Yara Miljö, so that it can offer a complete NOx control solution to its customers.

Optimize existing systems

Yara Miljö can deliver a new, complete SNCR system based on standard or customized modules. Where legislation has changed or where you want to optimize your system, we can work with you to modify or expand your SNCR system to fit your purposes.

Specifically developed injection system

Our SNCR technology is a complete NOx control system which includes a tank for storing your NOx reducing reagent. For optimal results, and where possible, we recommend the use of ammonia hydroxide as the reagent. The reagent is injected via the PMR (Pump Module Reduction) into the Process Unit Cabinet (PU Cabinet).

When using solid reagent, a

calculated amount of water is injected from the water softening system, which blends the ammonia and water together. Within the PU cabinet, the reagent flow is measured and divided into injector modules before being distributed into the boiler or cement kiln.

The injectors are situated at different levels within the PU Cabinet and they automatically change which injector is used according to the conditions of the boiler / kiln at that time.

You can choose from several versions of the PU cabinet with standard choices of 2, 4, 6 or 8, however it is possible to have up to 12 injectors. Dependent on the NOx reduction required, further cabinets can be added to the process unit to increase the number of injectors.

The number of injectors needed depends on the size of your boiler or your kiln, as well as your NOx emissions target.

Cost efficient, high performance

SNCR systems

Yara Miljö commercializes two SNCR systems

Standard SNCR, which achieves the minimum level of NOx emissions permitted

Low NOx system, which reaches much higher reduction levels of NOx emissions

Yara’s NOxCare is a complete package of technology, products and services, tailor-made to give you cost efficient NOx abatement

1) Understanding your process Our experts take the time to understand the specific situation and in-house operational processes in your existing plant, from an initial on-site assessment through consultations with engineering associates. If you are building a new plant, Yara will work directly with your engineering company or work directly with you as the engineering company.

The result is the best possible SNCR based DeNOx solution for your needs.

2) Designing the right long lasting system

We’ll design for you the best SNCR system with the right injection process to meet your emission requirements.

Our SNCR system is assembled with modules that can be tailor made or standardized. In any case, we will use high performance components for a more long lasting system. Our approach is to get it right and keep it simple so all runs by itself and you attain your emission limits without never using more reagent than you have to.

3) Trials for smooth commissioning

Trials take place in our workshop ahead of commissioning to develop and smoothly integrate the SNCR system at your site. We aim to spend less than a week on site, with minimal disruption in your operations. But of course we will only leave the site when the system is fully operating

4) Fully automated low maintenance operations Unlike other SNCR systems, Yara’s doesn’t require daily service. With our on-line Trouble shooting/unique control system, everything in the SNCR system is monitored remotely. Once installed, you don’t need to look after our system, as it will look after itself.

And if optimization or something out of the ordinary happens, we offer remote handling. In our offices in Sweden our experts can also remotely diagnose what has happened in your installation at your site. You can be reassured that your system will run optimally.

5) After sales maintenance 48h response

Beyond the 2 years warranty period, we offer a complete service of after sales maintenance. Call us if you are in need of a spare part. We have it in our workshop and it will be with you within 48h. Our expert engineers can support you throughout the lifespan of your installation. The high performance components we use for our SNCR allows the system to last longer, which brings added cost efficiency to its performance.

6) Process optimization

As you run your NOx control system in your daily operations, you see that your operating costs are increasing. It can be due to high NOx reducing reagent consumption as a result of inefficient flue gas treatment or high maintenance frequency. It is possible to solve these challenges. With our mobile trial unit, we can analyse your current combustion and NOx abatement status at your site and give you recommendation to optimize your process. Consumption of NOx control reagents can be optimized accordingly to ensure maximum

performance without over-injection, thus reducing reagent costs

Yara: DeNOx expertise at an optimized cost, offers also reliability in reduction agent supplies

Yara is the largest ammonia producer in the world, offering unique expertise in safe ammonia handling and ammonia back-up supply. We can deliver the reagent of your choice from our unique network of plants offering a constant back-up in sourcing. Most of our ammonia is made from natural gas, the cleanest hydrocarbon source available.

Yara daily transports ammonia around the world for many different process applications, including reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions, which has been a business for us for over 15 years.

The reduction agent you purchase for your NOx abatement is not just an operating cost for your SNCR system, Yara can help you optimize its use so that you use only exactly what is needed and you can control the cost of your nitrogen oxide reduction process.
