The performance of men and women in the labour market has converged enormously in the last decades, in terms of both relative earnings and labour force participation; but still, big differences persist. I order to understand why the penalty of being a woman differs so greatly by occupation, I will test the hypothesis that occupations that are gender friendly are also those with a lower elasticity of earnings to the time spent working.
