18th Century

Most of the fabirc is generated before 16th century. They are constructed in very small scale.

1.HISTORY

19th Century

Then in 1859, via torino was enlarged and became one of the most important streets in Milan. Some new buildings ,which feature big scale, were added. They constitute the facade of via torino and the old fabric is hidden behind.

20th Century

In the 20th century, the fabric of the area continues to change. Some fascist building were erected, some housings were constructed on the ruin of WW2. They are in a even larger scale.

1.Stone

4 pieces od stone are added. They are in the same scale and facade material with adjunct residencial buildings

2.Skin

The skin speak with the police office. It generates an inner space which is hidden from the context

5.Abstract

The greenery is not a real park. It's an abstract greenery. It is a volume which can activate the space and constructed with green material. It can mildly remind people of an oasis

4.Two courtyards

The greenery sperate the inner space into to two courtyards.

One is more open and has a larger scale than the other

3.Greenery

A piece of greenery is placed in the inner space. Greenery, which is precious in that densely built area, can attract much attention though the narrow ally

2.Entrance

The site is located at the cross section of via zecca vecchia and via fosse adeatine. The major shopping is very close to the site, but there is only one narrow ally connecting them.

1.Grenery

In the city center of Milan, because of the high density there are only some greenery, and only a few public greenery.

3.Fragment

After WW2, because of the void which resulted from the bomb Milan was reorganizing road in the city center. There was going to be an inner ring road, which go pass the site. Finally it didn't totally realize. Shattered fabric can be seen even now

2.Hotels

The red spots mean the high end hotels in the city center of Milan. There are some expensive hotels, but not much. They are located around Montenapoleone and Duomo

1.Shops

The red spots mean the shops in the city center of Milan.They mostly gather in five areas, Duomo, San Babila, Via Dante, Montenapoleone and Via Torino. My site is very close to via torino.

3.Restaurants

The red spots mean the restaurants in the city center of Milan. They are scattered in some historical blocks. Very often they are hidden behind busy streets. The area around my site can be regarded as a gathering area.
