(1)R. N. AZ. IO. last 4-5 years has probably put on a secondary level the main principles of the so-called “traditional dentistry”. By this short comment, I think it is useful and necessary to highlight how much the diagnostic phase of our profession is important. In fact sometime we are dazzled by the amazing results obtained through modern technologies – tissutal regeneration, applications of computing systems and other futuristic solutions – it is possible to get confused by forgetting the most simple and inexpensive solutions. Obviously the above proposal does not want to sound like a call to stop progress, but only a strong invitation to re-evaluate the traditional values of dentistry. In few words we keep our feet on the ground and we work for planning a most serene close future. Everyone in their own field of interest and according to their own possibilities, without loosing contact with reality, but trying to look far away at the horizon. While we are performing our daily activities we should remember that in order to face any crisis we should avoid any useless oppositions and we should show a total convergence and union.. ©. C. IC. ED. IZ. IO. N. II N. TE. Dear Colleagues, please keep your feet on the ground! Dentistry is not immune to the current economic problems, therefore the convergence of our purposes and the stability of our image are extremely important in the present moment. Currently the scenario of the national and world economy is typical of a hypoxic system and this does not make better the status of the great systems or the mood of the single citizen, but I think our main problem is that we usually live the historical and economic moments just in the most immediate present. In fact we should not forget that we are spending just a little temporal moment. Certainly in the present time of the ‘world of dentistry’ the professionality, the research and the engagement in the social field are the necessary principles for allowing us to be known and to grow up together. I started with ‘please keep your feet on the ground’ because if it is true that the state-ofthe-art dental technologies obliges us to adopt some sophisticated solutions, it is also true that they are characterized by high costs. Thanks to the participation in numerous congresses and courses it is immediately possible to understand how dentistry has been changing in the last 20 years, but its evolution in the. N AL I.
