The activities of the Regional Headquarters of the Institute are numerous, from assisting the Regions and other local bodies particularly with regard to the implementation, monitoring, and assessment of community policies (structural, market and rural development interventions etc.), to the production of original information sources regarding the operation of farms (FADN), and to the dynamics of important phenomena which invest in the pri-mary sector: irrigation, forests, immigrants, land market, agri-food chains, quality and organic production, etc. A significant component is however also represented by the research activities which the Regional Headquarters carry out for the creation of surveys conducted by the Italian Headquarters of the Institute, and by collaborations activated in partnership with the world of national and international research. The technical and scientific pro-duction of the Regional Headquarters spans from relationships aimed at support needs, to the decisions of local institutions, to information logs regarding the agricultural system of knowledge and rural and agricultural evolution and development scenarios. The expertise and experience accumulated in many headquarters also allows for the development of independent study and research activities aimed at providing methodological contributions and advancing knowledge.
