Le patologie delle basse vie urinarie del gatto (FLUTD, FUS) sono caratterizzate dalla presenza di uno o più dei seguenti segni aspecifici quali: pollachiuria, stranguria, oliguria, ematuria, disuria, periuria, ritenzione e incontinenza urinaria. Numerosi studi hanno analizzato i fattori di rischio della sindrome urologica felina incluse le caratteristiche proprie del paziente, le condizioni ambientali ed i fattori nutrizionali. La chiave per il successo del trattamento è la diagnosi corretta. Quando è possibile identificare una causa specifica, si può intraprenderne il trattamento. Quando non si riesce ad identificare un’eziologia sottostante, attraverso una valutazione diagnostica completa, il gatto deve essere trattato per cistite idiopatica felina (FIC). Lo scopo del presente lavoro è quello di valutare i trattamenti maggiormente utilizzati nella gestione terapeutica della sindrome urologica felina. Sono stati esaminati n. 127 gatti con affezioni delle basse vie urinarie e sono stati eseguiti i follow-up sia da un punto di vista medico, allopatico e/o integrato con omeopatia e fitoterapia, che chirurgico. Il 37,79% ha manifestato una sindrome ostruttiva di cui il 72,92% causata da urolitiasi, da tappi uretrali il 22,91% e da stenosi conseguente ad una uretrostomia il 4,17%. Per quanto concerne le cause non ostruttive, nel 5,06% è stata diagnosticata la FIC (Cistite Interstiziale Felina), nel 3,80% una cistite batterica, nel 13,92% cistite da renella, 1 soggetto presentava un carcinoma vescicale. Il solo trattamento chirurgico è stato approntato nell'11,02% dei soggetti, il solo trattamento medico allopatico e/o integrato con omeopatia e fitoterapia nel 72,44%, nel 16,54% è stato effettuato il trattamento medico insieme al trattamento chirurgico.

The pathologies of the feline lower urinary tract diseases (FLUTD, FUS) are characterized by the presence of one or more of the following aspecific symptoms such as: pollakiuria, stranguria, oliguria, haematuria, dysuria, periuria, retention and incontinence of urine. Numerous studies have analyzed the risk factors of the feline urologic syndrome inclusive of the patient's personal features, his environmental conditions and his nutritional factors. A right diagnosis is the key to the success of the treatment. When it is possible to identify a specific cause, a treatment can be started. When it isn't possible to identify an underlying aetiology, through full diagnostic surveys, the cat has to be treated as suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC). The aim of this work is that of evaluating the most used treatments in the therapeutic management of the feline urologic syndrome. 127 cats have been examined, all suffering from lower urinary tract diseases, and follow-ups have been carried out as from the medical point of view, allopathic and/or supplemented with homeopathy and phytotheraphy, as from the surgical one. A percentage of 37,79% has showed an obstructive syndrome out of which 72,92% due to urolothiasis, 22,91% to urethral plugs and 4,17% to a stenosis resulting from a urethrostomy. As regards the non-obstructive causes, the FIC (feline interstitial cystitis) has been diagnosed in the 5,06%, a bacterial cystitis in the 3,80%, a gravel cystitis in the 13,92%, one subject has showed a vescical carcinoma. The 11,02% of the subjects has undergone the only surgical treatment, the 72,44% only the medical one, allopathic and/or supplemented with homeopathy and phytotheraphy, the 16,54% both of them.
