PREFACE

In recent years, increasing number of researches has been conducted in view of achieving sustainable development without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In line with this, the School of Environmental Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has initiated the very first International Conference on Civil and Environmental Engineering (CENVIRON2017) that will become a perfect platform for academia and the industry to discuss and exchange ideas on the latest development and recent findings on topics related to green and sustainable development.

CENVIRON 2017 is dedicated to cutting edge research that addresses scientific needs and integrates knowledge and progress among academicians, researchers, industries, corporate organizations and interest groups in various civil and environmental related fundamentals and applications. This conference brings together leading researchers, engineers and scientists in the domain of interest from around the world, as it covers the entire range of basic and applied aspects of the current research and development towards achieving green and sustainable environment.

Among the objectives of this conference are; to promote the sharing of knowledge and expertise among academia, researchers and practitioners who work closely in the field of civil and environmental engineering; to provide a platform for discussion and exchange of views on the opportunities that arises in various civil and environmental related fundamentals and application through collaborations between industry and academia; and to support and motivate ‘Young Researchers’ on establishing their academic and professional relationships. Significantly, to exchange ideas and experiences as well as share their knowledge in understanding and identifying issues related to green and sustainable environment.

The Organizing Committee would like to express the warmest thanks to all Authors of the conference publications for the effort put into their elaboration, and to the Reviewers for the reliable evaluation of the works.
