History of Tattoos

The history of tattoos is very ancient.

An early example was found on a frozen body that was 9,000 years old. Primitive men inserted coloured materials beneath the skin surface by a number of puncture wounds that carry dye into the skin. There are many reasons why people choose a tattoo, including cultural thoughts, fashion, individuality, to make the body more pleasing, or to make a statement. Early Christians, for example, used tattoos as a symbol of recognition.

In the past tattooing had a negative image until its recent revival. Actually it is in fashion; especially within young people it is a symbol of individuality as well as defiance.
