Education objectives The units aims to provide the students with the basic principles of the aerodynamic - hydrodynamic behaviour of sails and hulls, moving through advanced topics concerning the sailing boat balance and performances.

Learning outcomes Choice and effects of the sail typology as a function of the sailed course and of the wind intensity. Details of equilibrium and dynamic of a sailing vessel (upwind and downwind). Details of sails, keel and rudder design.

Practice Laboratory
Organization and examinations The educational activities are organized into 48 hours of theoretical classes. Practical training activities concerning CFD simulations for sails and hulls may be performed.
