Abstract
The purpose of this Thesis is to give a solution at the problem about the right definition of the management techniques of an hybrid Diesel-Storage system in a isolated electric grid where there is an high penetration of photovoltaic modules.
In particular, the work has been developed through the following phases:
- Simulation of an isolated electric grid with Homer Energy software.
- Realization of a forecasting method for the electric load of the island.
- Definition of a theoretical optimization algorithm.
- Creation of a software able to confirm the good abilities of the algorithm.
Every phase has been carried out with a base bar model representative the electric grid. Different power sources are connected in the model: four Diesel generators, photovoltaic modules and a storage system.
During the fourth phase, it was considered the possibility to introduce an auxiliary load, like a desalter. The Thesis requested the use of the following software:
- Homer Energy.
- Matlab, used for the development of the forecasting method.
- Microsoft Visual Studio, for the programming of the software using the C language and GLPK optimization toolkit.
