I. TRANSRAIL : A RESPONSE TO MARKET NEEDS

A/ Overview of the railway industry…*

According to the last report of UNIFE (European association of rail industry), the railway markets will continue to grow (around 3% per year) in the whole world during the 5 next years. The heart of this growth is located in the emerging countries such as Middle-East, South America or Asia, but the historical markets like the European one, also have good development perspectives.

Even if the regional and national lines will remain the most important in terms of quantity, the growth will mainly happen in urban mobility that should increase of 4.1% per year. A strong growth due to the important urbanization phenomenon that emerging countries are facing. The main growth should concern the tramway field (+7.1%) in both mature and emerging markets.

If the global market perspectives are good, these are more uncertain for the French market. In a difficult economic context, France is thinking about its railway investment priorities by focusing on the existing infrastructure and network management in order to improve urban mobility and regional services. These last ones would give new opportunities to the supply industry, and are following the development programs regarding high speed train and rolling stock modernization.

For these reasons, TRANSRAIL 2015 will particularly focus on the presence of international companies looking for suppliers to assist their railway projects but also urban mobility issues.

B/ TRANSRAIL: a unique concept in the railway industry to facilitate the matching between major contractors and SMEs.

As a professional company specialized in industrial B2B meetings organization, First Connection aims at answering the need of industrial companies: saving time and being efficient. Thanks to First Connection’s events, contractors can quickly identify new suppliers able to offer innovative and high added-value services. At the same time, TRANSRAIL represents for SMEs a simple and cost efficient way to meet main decision-makers of the railway market and to assess business opportunities.

Indeed, market penetration is a major issue for SMES, in particular for “new entrant” companies willing to work in the railway field, especially if they do not answer the contractors’ needs in terms of certifications and standards.

Today, TRANSRAIL is an alternative to big railway exhibitions. The concept has been appreciated during its 3 last editions and former participants recognized the efficiency of the formula.

II. TRANSRAIL CONCEPT

A/ B2B Meetings: a simple and efficient concept to optimize the companies’ participation.

B2B meetings are targeted and pre-organized meetings. With a duration of 30 minutes each, these meetings represent a first step to establish future partnership matching supply and demand.

To optimize the relevance of these meetings, First Connection sends to the participants, 2 weeks before the event, the complete and detailed list of the registered companies: the contractors (manufacturers, operators, equipment manufacturers) share their fields of research, and the suppliers (or subcontractors) describe their skills. Thanks to this list, each participant quickly identifies the companies likely to match with its interests and makes a selection of meetings.

B/ A conferences program to make TRANSRAIL a complete event.

Organized in parallel to the B2B meetings, the conferences aim at giving an overview of the last technology developed by railway players. They last 30 minutes.

• The « market conferences » are led by speakers specialist of railway field (manufacturers, operators, institutional, organization …) and give the market trends, both with structural and technological approach.

• The «innovation conferences » are led by technology providers (SME, start-up, research centers) exhibiting at TRANSRAIL. They aim at presenting innovative technology or processes dedicated to railway applications.

C/ A turnkey formula

The participation to TRANSRAIL is a « turnkey formula »: the participant receives a personalized meeting schedule compiling all the meetings pre-selected and the conferences he is registered to.

At his arrival, he simply has to follow his agenda. He can also get some additional contacts on the spot, thanks to First Connection team support, concerned with the companies and their satisfaction.

C/ ROUND TABLES & CONFERENCES TO FOLLOW THE RAILWAY NEWS

1. TOPIC OF THE 2012 SESSION: THE FRENCH RAILWAY SUMMIT

« What are the short term actions to prepare the model of tomorrow? »

In a key period of the French Railway Summit that was held at the same moment of TRANSRAIL 2012, our partner Ville, Rail et Transport organized a conference/debate around this topic.

More than 250 persons participated to this conference. The audience was composed of private and public companies, politics and experts of the sector.

« Is there a train after TGV (High Speed Train)? »

French government took a decision. On 9th July, the Prime Minister chose, for the next big infrastructure project, the second scenario (the optimistic one) proposed by the Mobility 21 Commission, directed by Philippe DURON. The main priority will be the modernization of the existing network. It does not mean that it is the end of TGV (High Speed Train), but, as Jean-Louis BIANCO underlined in his report about the railway reform, it means that a new kind of train (200-250 km/h) is expected.

> What kind of train do we want?

> What about modernity that is not only related to speed?

> What can we learn from the experience of our European neighbours?

IV. THE 2015 EDITION:

A/ OBJECTIVE FOR 2015: INTERNATIONALIZATION

In 2015, TRANSRAIL seeks a greater involvement of international players. Indeed, with 3% growth per year expected in all the regions of the world during the next five years, a broader international coverage is inevitable to treat all the topics related to railway and urban mobility markets.

According to UNIFE report, the heart of this growth is located in the emerging countries such as Middle-East, South America or Asia, but the historical markets like Europe also have good development perspectives. TRANSRAIL is working on inviting all these regions to its appointment of 14th and 15th October 2015.

As a result of its success during the previous edition, TRANSRAIL aims at gathering over 150 technology suppliers / exhibitors and 200 contractors / visitors to propose a more diversified offer and to increase the interaction possibilities between the railway players.

A plenary conference will be organized by Ville, Rail et Transport about a news topic related to railway and urban mobility. It will take place on 14th October in the late afternoon.

TRANSRAIL again confirm its position as THE reference in the field of B2B meetings in the railway sector, offering a rich and diversified program: conferences to be informed about the last innovation and market trends but also direct contacts to assess partnership opportunities.

D/ THE STADE DE FRANCE: A LEGENDARY PLACE NEAR PARIS TO HOST THE 2015 EDITION

TRANSRAIL always put a point of honor to organize its editions in unusual places, fostering exchanges and conviviality between participants.

After a first edition at the Abbey of Royaumont (Chantilly), then at the Pavillon Dauphine (Paris) in 2012 and finally at the Palais Brongniart (Paris) in 2013, TRANSRAIL chose in 2015 the Stade de France, legendary stadium, an ideal place to welcome in the best conditions (access, proximity, …) a maximum of participants.

The Stade de France, located in Saint Denis (93), is a strategic place to ensure the presence of regional actors but also to facilitate the access for companies traveling from other French regions or from abroad.

The Stade de France is located near the headquarters of the SNCF (Saint Denis) and Alstom (Saint- Ouen). By approaching the premises of these key players, TRANSRAIL wants to ensure a massive presence of the teams working in these two sites.

The Stade de France is also easily accessible for people coming from the Nord-Pas -de-Calais and Picardy regions, rich of companies active in the railway field. It is easily accessible by car (A1 highway), but also by public transport (direct RER from Gare du Nord and Charles de Gaulle Airport).

TRANSRAIL 2015 is maximizing its chance to offer an edition, with more participants but always targeted and relevant contacts to maintain the quality level observed in the previous editions.
