Supporting structure

Coordinamento Agende 21 Locali Italiane became “Supporter” of the Covenant of Mayors campaign in September 2009.

C oordinamento Agende 21 promotes the European initiative of the Convenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate, supports the signatories' commitments and supports municipalities

in implementing the SECAPs (Sustainable Enery and Climate Action Plans).

WHY?

To support local authorities that lack skills and resources in order to fulfil the requirements of the Covenant of Mayors and to implement policies and action on sustainable development in the framework of ONU Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals – SdGs).

WHO ?

 Regions, Provinces/Metropolitan cities, Union of cities; Municipalities

 Associations/ Network of local authorities

HOW?

Spreading the concepts and commitments of the Covenant of Mayors and Sustainable Development.

Giving guide and support for the definition of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) and local Action Plan.

Monitoring the implementation of SECAPs.

Networking with the European Commission and the Covenant of Mayors’ Office.

Our main activities

1. Promotion of international, European and national initiatives on sustainable development (i.e.: ONU Agenda 2030 – SDGs) and climate change (i.e.: Covenant of Mayors, EU programme).

2. Training, awareness-raising and information activities on sustainable development issues.

3. Sharing of best practices.

4. European projects.

5. Networking with other networks and associations at national and international level (Rete Città Sane, ICLEI, Climate Alliance, Comité 21, Kyoto Club, Borghi Autentici d’Italia, Comuni virtuosi).

The Networks of Cities are fundamental and strategic to support of the Municipalities for:

Strengthen training and increase skills.

Encourage the exchange of experiences, good practices, tools (methodologies, guidelines, etc.).

Implement projects (European, national, local).

Intercepting and accessing public and private funding (foundations, banks, etc.).

Collect and vehicle the requests of the municipalities to regional and

national tables.
