Biosketch Luigi Musco Italiano

Luigi Musco, PhD in Ecologia Fondamentale, Professore Associato di Zoologia presso l’Università del Salento, in precedenza Primo Ricercatore presso la Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn di Napoli e Ricercatore presso il CNR di Castellammare del Golfo.

Studia la biodiversità marina, come essa contribuisce al funzionamento degli ecosistemi, come varia anche a causa degli effetti del disturbo antropico, ricercando soluzioni per il suo ripristino ove possibile.

Vincitore del Premio Dohrn miglior Ricercatore 2018.

Certificato di merito scientifico conferito dal Comune di Galatone nel 2019, Vincitore del Premio Terre di Campania 2019. L’articolo “Protocooperation among small polyps allows the coral Astroides calycularis to prey on large jellyfish” (Musco et al. 2018) risulta “Top Downloaded Paper 2020” della rivista Ecology. Ha partecipato a numerosi progetti Nazionali ed internazionali, Project manager e PI del progetto ABBaCo, PI per l’unità operativa dell’Università del Salento del Progetto MAPWORMS (HORIZON-EIC-2021-PATHFINDER OPEN-01) English

Luigi Musco, PhD in Fundamental Ecology, Associate Professor of Zoology at the University of Salento, former Senior Researcher at the Anton Dohrn Zoological Station of Naples, former Researcher at CNR of Catellammare del Golfo. He studies marine biodiversity, how it contributes to the functioning of ecosystems, how it varies also due to the effects of anthropogenic disturbance, seeking solutions for its restoration where possible. Winner of the Best Researcher Anton Dohrn Award 2018. In 2019, Certificate of scientific merit awarded by the Municipality of Galatone (Italy), in 2019, Winner of the

“Terre di Campania” award. In 2020 the paper “Protocooperation among small polyps allows the coral Astroides calycularis to prey on large jellyfish” (Musco et al. 2018) is awarded with the “Top Downloaded Paper” by the journal Ecology. He participated in numerous national and international projects, Project manager and PI of ABBaCo, PI for the operational unit of the University of Salento of the MAPWORMS Project (HORIZON-EIC-2021-PATHFINDER OPEN-01)
