Re: Application of Dr. Elisabetta Di Francia
I have known Elisabetta Di Francia when she was undergraduate student, then as her second level thesis supervisor.
The plans of Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage both for first and second level degree are quite difficult. There are many exams of different subjects, sometimes of few credits (CFU) nevertheless long to prepare. Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage is an integrated course of human and scientific subjects, with many practical laboratories for the scientific ones.
Elisabetta completed her first level degree thesis in just three years, fact not so common, and the second level thesis three years later passing more exams than necessary in order to improve and widen her knowledge.
Her thesis subject is very interesting for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. She studied the use in cultural heritage of a portable small optical microscopy equipped with an IR source, built originally for law applications. This apparatus, small and not expensive, could be used extensively in restoration and conservation.
I saw Mrs Di Francia growing in the years. She is very motivated , active and curious person with attention to the different subjects of the job she is involved. She is hardworking and a good team member.
I’ m sure Elisabetta will benefit greatly from a Metropolitan Museum of Art junior fellowship. In summary I strongly recommend her for the junior fellowship
Yours Sincerely
