Carmen Ferrer (Santiago de Cuba, 1989) is a PhD candidate of the XXX cycle of the Doctorate in Architecture and Design under the curriculum of Design Navale e Nautico, taken at the Department of Architecture Sciences of the Polytechnic School of the University of Genoa. At the moment she is carrying out research about the integration of culture in cruise and vessels design. She also assists the courses of Cruise Ship and Super Yacht Design of the Interior Architecture Degree at Florida
International University; moreover she takes care of the relationship between the international
exchange experience between the students of the third year of the Master’s Degree programs of Interior Architecture from FIU (Florida International University) and Design Navale e Nautico from UNIGE (University of Genoa).
In April 2014, she graduated in Interior Architecture with a master’s degree from Florida International University. Her thesis, “Pura Vida: a Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Center,” focused on finding how interior design elements could improve the recovery process of patients in a healthcare center, and a project proposing how to implement the positive aspects of the research findings. The thesis was chosen by the judges among the best 4, and furthermore exposed in the Gallery. In July 2011, she graduated with honors with an Associate in Arts in Interior Design from Miami Dade College.
