2 CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DEVICE
2.1 RECOMMENDED USE
AQUA+VS is an equipment designed for dish/glass wash machine water treatment. It is able to modify organoleptic and chemical characteristics of potable water, and it can reduce its saline content.
Moreover, the machine can preserve water from possible problems that can occur downstream of aqueducts, such as infiltrations due to work on the network or breakage, and also from the consequences that derive from keeping water in decantation basins.
AQUA+VS is a device specifically designed to supply water with a low salt content to dishwashers and glasswashers that are front loading and that have an atmospheric pressure "break tank" (or similar) boiler.
WARNING
The water requirements of the dishwasher installed after the AQUA+VS must respect the maximum performance of the osmosis equipment.
All components of the dish/glass washer machine in contact with water must be compatible with osmosis treated water.
It is forbidden to use brass; use only plastic parts and stainless steel parts.
Basins and tanks in AISI 304 must be without weldings.
It is recommended the use of parts in plastic or in stainless steel AISI 316 only.
The company COMENDA is not responsible of any damage or injury to things or people if tthese instructions are not respected.
WARNING AQUA+VS is not a water purifier.
Using AQUA+VS to treat water that is originally not potable is ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED.
2.2 ELEMENTS OF THE MACHINE
SCHEMATIC REPRESENTATION
- 7 - 2
2.3 COMPONENTS 2.3.1 External prefiltration
The device is supplied with an external small Profine® Blue carbon block cartridge to ensure chlorine removal and filtration of incoming water.
2.3.2 Vane pump with 150W motor
To increase operating water pressure, it is installed inside the machine a mini pump of 200 l/h, leaded by an asynchronous motor.
2.3.3 Membranes
The membranes are the heart of the machine; four membranes TWB2A1-1100371.
2.4 DESCRIPTION
The machine has on the rear side three hydraulic connections, respectively, for entry of water that has to be treated, output of permeate and output of concentrate, and it is also present the power outlet.
On the front side there is the electronic control board with display.
Inside there is a Profine® Blue pre-filter carbon block small that is able to ensure the dechlorination and filtration of incoming water.
The pre-filtering of any sediment and chlorine serves to retain the solid impurities that may damage the pump or membranes.
The activated charcoal pre-filter allows, without compromising the properties of mineral water, to eliminate the unpleasant taste of chlorine and it's able to adsorb any organic micropollutants present in traces, various organic and inorganic chemical compounds (such as compounds of chlorine), the residual chlorine used to disinfect water, haloforms, pesticides, surfactants.
From the inlet connection, the water goes through the inlet solenoid valve to achieve the prefiltration of the Profine® Blue small 5 micron filter. After passing through the filter, the water, before reaching the pump, is intercepted by the minimum pressure switch, sensor for the detection any low input pressure of the AQUA + VS.
The water is pumped at high pressure in the vessel containing the membrane osmosis.
The phase of reverse osmosis is the last and most important process that takes place inside the machine. The membrane is a selective spiral wound type. Water permeates through a film and following the collection pipes, converges in the central pipe of the membrane on which the film, in various layers, is wrapped. From the central pipe, the permeate conveys water directly to the service. The water and the rejected substances that are not permeated form the concentrate/drain.
The machine has a conductivity probe to measure the water quality.
For the control of start/stop, the machine is equipped with a max pressure switch placed before the permeate outlet.
The machine is equipped with two probes anti-leakage to prevent damage to the system in case of leakage.
It is possible to regulate the salinity of the permeated water thanks to the mixing valve on the front of the appliance. This valve performs a second function, that is, the total by-pass function for the equipment: by opening the valve completely, it is able to supply raw water to the downstream user even in the case of equipment in failure.
- 8 - W
WARNING
The percentage of dissolved salts and other rejected elements is affected by the quality of water, the temperature, the pressure and the totality of dissolved salts and it is different depending on types of salts or elements.
The treatment of particularly turbid water or water with many impurities can clog the pre-filters and/or membranes, causing a decline in water flow rate and quality.
You cannot treat waste water, seawater or other water in chemical, physical and
bacteriological conditions that aren't in the practical possibilities of reverse osmosis treatment (industrial waste water or chemical processing).

3 INSTALLATION
The installation of AQUA+VS must be done in a fresh, dry and good aerated place.
WARNING
AQUA+VS must be installed by qqualified personnel and in compliance with regulations, there must be a tap above (to exclude the equipment from the water system in case of maintenance interventions), a non-return valve, water sampling points upstream and downstream of the device and a socket.
Avoid subjecting the machine to excessive temperature changes that could cause condensation inside, which can damage the electronic parts.
The instructions and representation that follow are to be considered for typical installations;
specific components may vary depending on the accessories supplied with the machine and derivation and delivery chosen taps.
CONTROLS TO BE CARRIED OUT BEFORE INSTALLATION Presence and efficiency of grounding of power line.

4 FUNCTIONING
4.1 FIRST START-UP
WARNING
The first start-up of the machine must be done by the installer that checks the correct functioning of the machine.
Insert the power plug in a grounded 230V 50Hz socket; the machine is ready to operate. It is recommended to let the water run for at least 10 min., in order to allow the plant to drain the substances used to conserve the reverse osmosis membrane.
Check any leakage in the hydraulic circuit.
Close the covers with fixing screws and place the machine in its final place Sanitize the machine as described in § 5.4.
4.2 NORMAL USE
For normal use of AQUA+VS, the machine must be always switched on.
The machine starts up automatically at each rinsing cycle of the dishwasher.
The machine turns on and off automatically leaded by the max pressure switch.
WARNING
Avoid dehydration of the membranes, because it could irreparably compromise their functioning.
4.2.1 Automatic flushing function
In order to avoid bacterial growth on the surface of the membrane, the device will automatically operate the
“flushing” mode every 6 hour. This process consists of the substitution of stagnant water with fresh network water that is filtered by Profine® Blue filter (inside the membrane). During this operation the solenoid valve will open for 2 minute.
4.3 LEACKAGE PROBE
The machine has two leakage probes inside. In case of leakage, the machine makes a long BEEP and stops.
To restart the machine, disconnect and reconnect the power plug.
WARNING
If leakage alarm repeats, disconnect the power, open the machine and check that the probes are not wet. In this case, dry the leakage probe.
The opening and the control of the leakage probe must be done by qualified personnel.
4.4 INACTIVITY
WARNING
It is recommended, each time the machine is not used for a period longer than a week, to let the water flow for at least 10 minutes before use.
It is recommended to perform machine sanitation each six months or during normal maintenance operations.
The sanitation must be performed by qualified personnel only, so contact assistance.
