7.1 CONCLUSIONI
La procalcitonina sembra essere un marcatore sensibile e specifico per la SIRS settica nei vitelli. Potranno essere effettuati ulteriori studi per indagare il ruolo della PCT e per accorciare la terapia antibiotica, come è già stato proposto in medicina umana. Inoltre prendere in considerazione il tempo di recupero dalla SIRS settica, e non solo il risultato di recupero, potrebbe essere un obiettivo per ulteriori studi sui livelli di PCT e per l’analisi della sopravvivenza.
