5. CONCLUSIONI

La leucocitosi e la leucopenia come riportato in letteratura possono accompagnare le enteropatie croniche, i leucociti aumentano in seguito ad una risposta di fase acuta ma la leucocitosi non è una caratteristica specifica di tali patologie così come la leucopenia. Le alterazioni del leucogramma non sono apparse quindi significative.

Dal tracciato elettroforetico si è osservata una concentrazione superiore delle α2- e γ-glubulne nei pazienti IBD.

Da quanto emerge da questo studio la transferrina può essere considerata un marker affidabile nelle enteropatie croniche del cane e le proteine totali si sono dimostrate un marker prognostico predittivo, essendo risultate statististicamente significative attraverso l’odds ratio. Tra le altre APP analizzate nessuna ha presentato una associazione costante con il CIBDAI, non si è mostrata un indicatore flogistico sensibile e nessuna soprattutto si può definire un marker prognostico sensibile.

È emersa un’associazione negativa dell’albuminemia con il CIBDAI e la risposta al trattamento terapeutico, occorre però ricordare che l’albumina è una proteina di fase acuta negativa ma altri fattori patogenetici sono responsabili della riduzione nella sua concentrazione nelle flogosi intestinali croniche.

Contrariamente a quanto riportato da Jergens et al. ma in accordo ad Allenspach et al. la proteina C-reattiva non si è rivelata un marker diagnostico e prognostico sensibile, e non ha mostrato una correlazione

significativa con il CIBDAI. Un grande difetto della CRP è comunque quello di non godere di specificità, in quanto può aumentare secondariamente a numerose condizioni.

Nell’uomo la proteina C-reattiva trova grande applicazione nella diagnosi e nella prognosi delle flogosi intestinali croniche. Nel cane invece i nostri dati che si allineano con quelli di Allenspach et al., sollevano dubbi al riguardo. Ulteriori studi ed un ampiamento della casistica potrebbero in ogni caso essere utili per confermare il dato e per individuare nuovi marker di flogosi.
