Il presente studio sperimentale ha indagato e confermato la possibilità di utilizzo dell’Eye Tracking per la valutazione cognitiva, attraverso il test delle Matrici Progressive Avanzate di Raven, in pazienti affetti da Sclerosi Laterale Amiotrofica.

Per quanto concerne i lavori futuri, sarebbe opportuno svolgere ulteriori studi con un campione più numeroso, facendo un confronto per quanto riguarda i controlli nella somministrazione carta e matita, rispetto alla somministrazione con l’Eye Tracking in modo tale da rilevarne le differenze. Il dispositivo di tracciamento oculare si è rivelato essere di fatto complesso per quanto concerne la calibrazione e la scelta degli items tramite movimento degli occhi, e sarebbe interessante un confronto con il metodo carta e matita.

Infatti lo studio che intendo proseguire riguarda la somministrazione casuale del test a controlli sani, alternando il metodo carta e matita a quello tramite ETS.

Inoltre sarebbe necessario aumentare la numerosità del campione di pazienti caratterizzati da un coinvolgimento di tipo bulbare, per effettuare un ulteriore confronto con i pazienti puramente di tipo spinale.

L’obiettivo futuro da perseguire riguarda l’acquisizione di una batteria di test neuropsicologici da somministrare attraverso il sistema dell’Eye Tracking ai pazienti affetti da SLA, che possano essere utilizzati anche negli stadi più avanzati.
