Come atteso, diete ad elevato tenore lipidico, ed in particolare arricchite di colesterolo esogeno, hanno determinato un importante impatto non solo sui parametri biochimici lipidemici e glicemici, ma anche impatti evidenti sulla morfologia epatica e naturalmente un significativo accumulo di adiposità addominale. Lo studio condotto su un estratto di

Eruca sativa L. ha consentito di evidenziare che tale estratto, presumibilmente in

funzione di un apporto di metaboliti secondari, se da un lato non sembra aver portato ad effetti significativi sul metabolismo del colesterolo nel suo complesso, dall’altro sembra aver esercitato effetti significativi sul metabolismo dei trigliceridi e forse anche su quello del glucosio; effetti che si sono tradotti in un significativo contenimento dell’accrescimento ponderale e della adiposità viscerale associata ad una dieta ad elevato tenore lipidico. Tale risultato sperimentale, che suggerisce un’originale e interessante applicazione di estratti ricchi in glucosinolati di piante Brassicaceae.
