All the distances involved are referred to a sample CLS device, with SMS/CLS pairs mounted far away from other magnetic parts or devices, and with SMS frontally operated (see Fig. 4).

The Operating Distance (D-ON) is the one in which all safety contacts have switched their status.

The Release Distance (D-OFF) is the one in which, when the mag-netic unit moves away from the sensor, at least one contact releas-es returning to the rreleas-est position, while the other (if any) is still switched.

The Reset Distance (D-RESET) is the one in which, when the mag-netic unit moves away from the sensor, all safety contacts have released and return to the rest position.

The letters V, I, P, refer to the Voltage, Current, Power that char-acterizes the output contacts of the sensors.

In Tab. 2 is summarized for each SMS model the corresponding CLS actuating magnet, while the maximum safety category (EN ISO13849-1:2008) of the whole

safety-related part of the machine in which the sensor/magnet pair models with different cable length.

The special products, that are products having a cable length which varies with regards to the standard models, will be identified by xMT or xxMT in the final part of the code. Example: SMS03 with cable 5 meters long = SMS035MT).

The indications ”SIGNAL” and

“AUX” (signalling and auxiliary) are referred to contacts only as far as signalling function is concerned.

NOTES

In compliance with ISO14119, fit the safety switches in such a way that:

- they are not easily detachable (e.g. use of self-locking screws, rivets, ...)

- they are difficult for operators to access when the guard is open - they are protected against tampering or unintentional switching

It must be possible to inspect and replace the safety switches, by qualified personnel only.

Protect the contacts from overcurrents

Keep the spare actuators in safe place.
