Biodiversity and the landscape
architectural project in Sheffield, UK
Anna Jorgensen, University of Sheffield
The one-day symposium is convened in conclusion of the research project “Biodiversità urbana e progetto di paesaggio” supported with a grant by the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST), Politecnico di Torino. While the research project focused on the role of landscape architecture projects in the conservation/implementation of urban biodiversity in Italy, the symposium is designed as a platform to foster an international debate on the topic of urban biodiversity. Bringing together a variety of scholars and designers – geographers, landscape architects, urban ecologists – the symposium aims at highlighting the key role of the landscape architecture project and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in responding to issues related to the conservation of biodiversity in the urban context.
