Studio idrogeologico e idrochimico delle sorgenti comprese nel bacino del “Rio delle Campore”

Abstract:

The studied area is situated in the Southern Apuan Alps (Pescaglia area, Lucca District), within the hydrographic basin of Rio delle Campore. The aim of this experimental thesis is the hydrogeological characterization of the local aquifer preliminarily individuated by means of the geological and hydrogeological surveys carried out in a contextual and contemporaneous thesis. The hydrogeological characterization has been carried out through analysis in situ (temperature measures, discharge, pH, electrical conductivity and alkalinity) and laboratory analysis (chemical composition, isotopic content of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon).

Observing the obtained data it is possible to take the following results:

- The electrical conductivity doesn’t present strong modification from the typical values of water in touch with carbonatic rocks (ranging from 10μs/cm to 380μs/cm). The highest values are attributable to the water circulating in limestone formation and “Calcari e marne a posidonia”, probably due to a highest development of the soil.

- Temperature, alkalinity and pH don’t present relevant abnormalities, but are typical of water circulating in carbonatic rocks.

- Putting in relation the isotopic values of G

O-G

H it could be pointed out the position of some samples within the two straight lines which express the relation G

18

O-G

2

H for the Mediterranean area and the Italian territory, it could be noticed that some points show small differences compared to this two straight lines due, probably, to the local morphological and climatic factors.

- The isotopic values correlated with the springs height show that a large number of points fall within an area includes between the two relation’s straight lines, that tie together G

18

O to Quota defining a feeding area situated in an area of “transition” between the west mountain range and the more to east.

- The water is characterized by low mineralization, and can be classified in the Piper diagram as calcium-bicarbonate facies.

Moreover, estimating the data obtained from the hydrological budget and the discharge curves of

some springs, it presupposes the presence of an aquifer with limited potentiality even if it is

characterized of good chemical characteristics.
