Le opere tardoantiche e irlandesi costituiscono un nucleo particolarmente importante all'interno del progetto OPA.
Opere perdute e opere anonime nella tradizione latina dalla tarda antichità alla prima età moderna (sec. III-XV) che si propone di indagare quella congerie di testi particolarmente complessa e articolata costituita da opere anonime, pseudoepigrafe e perdute di quei secoli che dal Tardo Impero portano all'età moderna e che convenzionalmente
viene definito Medioevo. Dopo decenni di ricerche orientate secondo un modello tradizionale - nel quale la funzione autore era decisiva e formulata in maniera statica - si rende oggi necessario iniziare a comprendere la tradizione Tardoantica e Medievale attraverso un diverso punto di vista, per il quale risulta centrale il riferimento all'anonimato e il concetto di attribuzione nelle sue diverse mutuazioni, articolazioni e declinazioni.
Ad oggi risultano particolarmente avvertite sia l'assenza di un repertorio, che sistematizzi i testi anonimi e ne agevoli l'identificazione, sia studi di analisi per tipologie testuali (o aree di produzione) che ne focalizzino e chiariscano la valenza culturale.
Per ottemperare a queste due evidenti carenze, il progetto prevede i seguenti obiettivi:
▪ come ricerca di base: la creazione e implementazione di un Database open access OPA che, partendo dalle banche dati dell'Archivio Integrato per il Medioevo (AIM) della S.I.S.M.E.L. (Società Internazionale per lo Studio del Medioevo Latino), classifichi i testi anonimi e pseudoepigrafi. Per ciascun testo sarà realizzata una scheda che riporterà, secondo un modello di immissione già predisposto: genere letterario; datazione; identificazione per incipt ed explicit delle diverse parti dell'opera; trasmissione manoscritta; indicazione geografica, ove possibile;
indicazione dei repertori di riferimento (nonché a seconda del genere letterario: autore e opera commentata; sigla biblica; santo). Il Database, rendendo fruibili i dati attraverso un'interfaccia di ricerca, costituirà uno strumento fondamentale per iniziare a ricostruire e comprendere la cultura latina tardoantica e medievale dalla prospettiva dell'anonimato. La consultazione potrà avvenire per singola scheda di testo (o parti di esso), oppure mediante ricerca trasversale (ad esempio per cronologia, area geografica, genere letterario, libro biblico, autore antico).
La realizzazione del Database sarà condotta in collaborazione con le altre due unità ricerca del progetto FISR2019_03352: Università di Bologna (Francesco Santi) e Università di Salerno (Stefano Grazzini) Ciascuna unità - e così quella dell'Università di Udine - provvederà alla catalogazione di schede relative a opere anonime di differenti generi letterari, cercando di coprire un panorama significativamente vario e vasto; l'unità dell'Università di Udine e in particolare l'assegnista di ricerca di cui al bando provvederà inoltre in particolare a implementare il database di schede relative a opere esegetiche, tardoantiche e irlandesi.
▪ come ricerca di sintesi: si prevede la realizzazione di studi inerenti la trasmissione testuale di testi anonimi. In particolare: saranno realizzati due volumi della serie Te.Tra (La Trasmisione dei Testi latini del Medioevo/Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission); il primo sarà dedicato alla trasmissione delle opere esegetiche irlandesi; il secondo a raccogliere indagini sulla trasmissione di alcuni testi particolarmente significativi fornendo specimina di particolare interesse filologico, paleografico e testuale.
L'assegnista vincitore del bando dovrà collaborare ad entrambi gli obiettivi previsti. I risultati attesi dal programma di ricerca dell'assegnista selezionato sono i seguenti:
1) revisione e implementazione di schede nel Database OPA secondo il modello di scheda di immissione predisposto. Le schede da realizzare saranno relative a opere latine, tramandate come anonime e realizzate nei secoli III-XV, e appartenenti a diversi generi letterari. In particolare l'assegnista si occuperà di schedare opere tardo antiche e di ambito ibernico, inserendo dati di repertori specifici.
2) collaborazione alla disseminazione dei risultati raggiunti dal progetto attraverso la realizzazione di uno o più dei seguenti prodotti scientifici:
- articoli specifici sulla trasmissione di testi anonimi esegetici di ambito irlandese da pubblicare nel volume della serie Te.Tra. La Trasmisione dei Testi latini del Medioevo/Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission dedicato all'argomento;
- articoli specifici sulla trasmissione di testi anonimi individuati nella fase 1) e ritenuti particolarmente significativi da un punto di vista filologico, o paleografico, o testuale da pubblicare nel volume della serie Te.Tra. La Trasmisione dei Testi latini del Medioevo/Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission dedicato all'argomento.
L'assegnista selezionato dovrà dimostrare per il punto 1)
- di avere le competenze necessarie per trattare i dati sui testi anonimi dalla tarda Antichità al Medioevo;
- di conoscere i repertori di pertinenza e i materiali bibliografici sull'argomento;
- di avere le competenze ed esperienze informatiche per essere in grado di interagire con il sofware impiegato per l'inserimento e la correzione dei dati;
- di avere buona conoscenza della lingua inglese e tedesca che gli consenta di poter affrontare la bibliografia nelle due lingue;
L'assegnista selezionato dovrà dimostrare per il punto 2) - di avere competenze filologiche e di trasmissione dei testi;
- di avere adeguata conoscenza dei testi latini dall'età classica all'età Umanistica, dei manoscritti e dei centri scrittori che tali testi veicolano e producono.

Late Antiquity and Irish works form a particularly important core within the project OPA. Lost and Anonymous Works in the Latin Tradition from Late Antiquity to the Early Modern Age (3rd-15th century) that aims to investigate that particularly complex and articulated jumble of texts composed of anonymous, pseudo-epigraph and lost works of those centuries that lead from the Late Empire to the Modern Age and which is conventionally defined as the Middle Ages. After decades of research orientated according to a traditional model - in which the authorial function was decisive and formulated in a static way - it is now necessary to understand the Late Antique and Medieval tradition through a different point of view, for which it is crucial the reference to the anonymity and the concept of attribution in its variations, articulations and declinations.
Currently, the absence of a catalogue, which classifies anonymous texts and makes easier their identification, and analytical studies by textual typologies (or production areas), which focus and set out their cultural value, are particularly felt.
To meet these two shortcomings, the project has the following objectives:
▪ descriptive research: creation and implementation of the open access OPA database which, starting from the databases of the Archivio Integrato per il Medioevo (AIM) by S.I.S.M.E.L. (Società Internazionale per lo Studio del Medioevo Latino), classifies anonymous and pseudo-epigraph texts. For each text, a form will be filled that, according to a prearranged model, will report: literary genre; date; identification of the different parts of the work by incipt and explicit; manuscript transmission; geographical data, where possible; indication of the reference bibliography (as well as according to the literary genre: author and commented work; biblical sigla; saint).
The Database, queryable through a search interface, will be a fundamental tool to reconstruct and understand late ancient and medieval Latin culture from the perspective of anonymity. User queries can be done according to a single text file (or parts of it), or through cross-section search (for example according to chronology, geographical area, literary genre, biblical book, ancient author).The Database compilation will be carried out in collaboration with the other two research units of the FISR2019_03352 project: University of Bologna (Francesco Santi) and University of Salerno (Stefano Grazzini). Each unit - and the unit of the University of Udine likewise - will catalogue records relating to anonymous works according to different literary genres, trying to cover a significant and vast variety; the unit of the University of Udine and the research fellow will collect data particularly relating to exegetical, Late Antiquity and Irish works.
▪ synthesis research: studies concerning the textual transmission of anonymous texts. Two volumes of the Te.Tra series (La Trasmisione dei Testi latini del Medioevo / Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission): the first dedicated to the transmission of Irish exegetical works; the second to the transmission of some particularly significant works, providing specimens of particular philological, palaeographical and textual interest.
The research fellow will collaborate in both research objectives. The foreseen results of the activity of the research fellow are the following:
- result 1) collecting, filing and checking records on anonymous works in the OPA Database, according to the prearranged entry model. The database records will relate to Latin works, transmitted as anonymous and composed between the 3rd and the 15th century. The works to be analysed belong to different literary genres (part
of the records will concern exegetical texts). In particular, the research fellow will fil records on late antiquity and hibernic works, entering data from specific repertoires.
- result 2) collaboration in the dissemination of the results achieved by the project through the creation of one or more of the following scientific outcomes:
- specific essays on the transmission of anonymous Irish exegetical works to be published in a special volume of the Te.Tra series. La Trasmissione dei Testi latini del Medioevo / Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission;
- specific essays on the transmission of the anonymous texts and works identified in phase 1) and considered particularly significant from a philological, or paleographical, or textual point of view. The essays will be published in a special volume of the Te.Tra series. La Trasmissione dei Testi latini del Medioevo / Mediaeval Latin Texts and Their Transmission;
For point 1), the research fellow should:
- have the necessary skills to process data on anonymous texts from Late Antiquity to the Middle Ages;
- know the repertoires and the bibliography on the subject;
- have the IT skills and experiences to be able to work with the software used for entering and checking data;
- have a good knowledge of English and German to be able to deal with the bibliography in both languages.
For point 2), the research fellow should:
- have expertise in philology and in textual transmission;
- have expertise in Latin texts from the classical Antiquity to the early Modern Age, in manuscripts and in the scriptoria that produced such texts.

Application for admission to the competition
Entries to competition begin on 22 April 2021 at 02:00 p.m. (Italian time) and end on 5 May 2021 at 02:00 p.m.
(Italian time).
The application to participate to the selection must be completed, under penalty of exclusion, using the online procedure at the address https://pica.cineca.it/
The online procedure involves two stages:
Stage I – Registration
Stage II – Filling out the online application.
At the end of Stage II, the applicant must print out the application form, sign it in the manner (manual signature, with attached identity document, or digital signature) described in the online procedure, under penalty of exclusion from the selection.
Documents, qualifications and publications, as listed in art. 4 of the above mentioned Notice of competition, must be attached to the online application in electronic format (.pdf). The size cannot be larger than 30 MB.
The application to participate to the selection process is automatically sent to the University of Udine with the final closure of the online procedure.
